Sep. 26th, 2013 11:04 amQuick catch up.
Mam's back in hospital, has been since Monday. The weekend wasn't fun at all, she'd been getting worse from the back end of last week, feeling like her lungs were filling with fluid. But, despite that she point blank refused to go to the doctor's or hospital in case she was admitted over the weekend. I spent Friday night practically begging her to go see someone, but nope. She was just so frightened about what had happened the weekend before, when she got assigned to a weekend doctor who caused more harm than good that she wouldn't budge. Saturday morning I was up hers at 7:30 in the morning, and got sworn and yelled at for my trouble as she was convinced I'd arranged for an ambulance. But, she stuck it out until Monday when we took her to an emergency doctor's appointment, and was immediately admitted from there.
James was running on fumes that day. He'd just finished three night shifts and ended up at the hospital for a full day, waiting around on no sleep. But eventually mam got assigned to a ward, and found out that her condition has become much more serious. Her heart and lungs are damaged and she's got an enlarged liver. They gave her some meds that made some of the fluid drain from her lungs so was feeling a little better yesterday, but her consultant has warned she'll be in at least a week.
Last I heard last night a rumatolagist had been to see her as they're wondering if her lupus is flairing up and causing all of these issues. Whatever it is, I just want them to find some answers at last. Thankfully the ward she's in has amazing staff. It's attached to the cardiac section of the hospital and I suspect is geared up more for elderly people as mam is the youngest in her ward, with the rest mostly in their 90s. It makes for a boring day for her, but at least the staff are attentive.
And ha, a day after I started to write this, mam was told she is in a geriatric ward. She wasn't very pleased *g*
I posted my no_tags yesterday, and for the first time ever got it right first time and didn't actually post to the ficlet fairy journal first. No details until reveal, but I do want to mention
themoononastick who did great work on editing. For both this challenge and BBB wave3 she's made editing as easy as possible for me when mam's health went downhill fast in the middle of both challenges. I always say I'm lucky to have her, and no_tags showed that all over again.
I haven't actually read any of the stories yet as I was out of the house all day yesterday, but hope to get stuck in at some point today. There's so many Mikey pairings for me to read. No lie, I'm delighted at that. Sadly I also have weeks worth of ironing that must be done today, so that's part of the day taken up.
Garden wise, things are winding down for the season, but we're still getting red tomatoes on a daily basis. Also so many cucumbers we've started giving them away to anyone who'll have them. Even the window cleaner got one the other day. We're making plans to have a bigger greenhouse next year. If the cucumbers grow so well again we may have to set up a stall.

Date: 2013-09-26 11:10 am (UTC)And yay for uploading your no_tags story! I'm sure you aren't the only one behind on reading, a Wednesday/Thursday just isn't a day where on has much time for reading, usually... (As for myself, I've only read three so far.)

Date: 2013-09-26 08:02 pm (UTC)Me too. The ward she's on now is really dragging her down. Being in hospital is bad enough without being in with people who won't/can't talk to you.
I've read a few tonight and have enjoyed every one so far. I tend to read all the no_tags no matter what pairing. It's part of the fun of the challenge for me.

Date: 2013-09-26 08:44 pm (UTC)You're absolutely amazing in your ability to keep writing despite everything going on in your life. You totally rock!
I hope you've had a fun day of reading. I've only managed to read three no_tags stories so far but I've got another two bookmarked.
Yay! for homegrown veggies!

Date: 2013-09-30 08:38 am (UTC)Well, I have to admit, if it wasn't for the challenge status I may have stopped writing. As it was, I knew I needed to get the stories done.
I had an excellent day reading. It's been a while since I've read all stories in a challenge.
