Oct. 28th, 2013 11:46 amYesterday was a pretty lazy day. James is on night shifts at the moment so was asleep on the couch, I was catching up on laundry and stuff online. Then I called mam and she told me my sister had been blown off her moped and ended up under a lorry. She's okay, got bad road rash, cut up her hands and damaged her shoulder, and her coat is done for, but it could have been so much worse. If either had been going a little faster or slower. If Kayleigh had been propelled in a different direction just by a fraction, just thinking of it gives me cold chills.
What I don't get is why no one insisted she go to hospital or call an ambulance. As it is she got back on her damaged bike and drove home, and called mam when she got there saying she was in shock -- and no wonder. Then she couldn't go to the hospital as it was the local derby football game and everyone she knew with a car was drinking in a pub watching the match. I told her she should have just called us, James would have still taken her through, but she didn't want to go as it was inevitable trouble would break out once the match finished and the hospital would be slammed. And it was, but I still think she should have gone to be checked over.
Sticking with the hospital theme. You may remember that James was supposed to have an operation on his hand and had been told the latest it would be was the end of October. He phoned to find out what was going on and they're so far behind that it's going to be in the new year now. Honestly, I'm a little relieved about that. I was dreading yet more hospital time, and him being out of action driving wise for a while, especially now when things are so up in the air with mam. Plus, it means we can enjoy Christmas without additional hospital time. It may be selfish, and if it was something that was causing him serious pain I'd be angry, but it's not, and I need a break from that place.
Ending this with more medical stuff. My knee is feeling better. I don't know if it's because of the painkillers/gel or that it's actually starting to heal, but I don't care as long as I can get around pain free.
And that's it family medical woes wise. I'm going to read some of the bandom_meme exchange stories now -- and laugh at the noises James is making as he sleeps on the couch -- before heading up to see mam this afternoon. Maybe do that A03 meme that's going around when I get back. Or you know, post this and then disappear for almost a week again, that's more likely.
