Nov. 8th, 2013 03:39 pmI found out the answer to the question whether my knee was getting better or the good pain pills were just masking the pain when the course I'd been perscribed ran out a few days ago. So yeah, very much the second. Two days ago I was back at the doctor's and she's given me a repeat perscription of the good painkilling gel and told me to just phone up if I need more of the tablets as they need to be actually perscribed each time by a doctor. I was there first thing in the morning, then had to go grocery shopping, got some Christmas gifts, then took mam to the doctor's, so by the time I got home on the night was good for nothing but sitting watching TV on the couch with a hot wheat bag on my knee. Thankfully the good pain pills have started to kick in now, so I'm mobile again.
Mam. Her health just keeps getting worse. Last week we took her to the opticians. I was waiting for her while she was getting her eye exam, and expected to go pick glasses with her after. Not so much. She has cataracts on both eyes and needs ops on the both. So that will be happening within a few weeks, first one eye then the other. More serious, she's been having a hoarse voice for a while and has started to have trouble swallowing. That's why we were at the doctor's the other day as she'd been told to go back if the hoarseness didn't go and things got worse, which they had. So she's off for tests about that a week on Thursday.
My brother is taking her for the chest x-ray today because James is at work and I'm waiting in for the plumber. Which I'd rather not be doing alone, or have to pay out a lump sum of money with Christmas coming up, but the downstairs toilet badly needed replacing. Plus, this is a friend of a friend job where the plumbers are coming after their actual working day, so it was a case of them coming when they could, which is today. But, in a few hours we'll hopefully have a new, plumbed in toilet, a smart new tap in the kitchen and an outside tap that doesn't leak under the sink.
I'm still working away on my bandom holidays story, and enjoying doing so. I've only just made my target for mini nano these last two days, but those few words still add together. I'm enjoying writing the story. It's like pulling on a warm, cosy coat.
Both Mikey and Gerard are selling their houses and I have to admit I had a good nose at the listings. My initial reaction to both being, wow, those houses are huge. You could fit my whole house into one of their rooms, and it's a striking contrast to when I'm writing and tend to write them all in much smaller houses, when the reality is million dollar houses that are beautiful to look at. Ah well, my heart will always put them in mama Way's house with the creepy dolls and basement.
I saw the new John Lewis Christmas advert earlier and it's not a patch on last year with the snowpeople. Sadness.
Now I'm off to get a coffee before the plumbers arrive and turn off the water.

I hope the plumber's visit went well.
Good luck with your writing!

Date: 2013-11-09 02:34 am (UTC)I've been thinking that Gerard possibly sold to downgrade? I think he put his last house up for sale a year ago, so it's not like he hasn't done this recently.

Thank you ♥

That makes a lot of sense. It's a huge house for three people, maybe one more if they have a live in nanny.

Date: 2013-11-20 04:02 pm (UTC)Mam's lifestyle really is an issue with her medical problems. Of course she doesn't actually see that.
The plumbers visit went nicely, though I didn't like handing over the money after!
Yeah, one of their estate agents posted on twitter about listing their houses. Which I found weird, like they were shamelessly name dropping. But I guess it gets people looking.

Date: 2013-11-20 04:03 pm (UTC)is there anything you can do/not do to make it better?
I've been taking supplements for joints and doing gentle walking, which seems to be helping. Next step is physio if it doesn't get much better.

Date: 2013-11-20 04:06 pm (UTC)I'm sure they will still live near to each other. I was amused when I looked at the listings and saw they were in the same area. Amused, but not surprised at all.
