Jan. 19th, 2014 04:32 pmThings are going okay around these parts.
Dad is home and things have been put in place which mean he's a lot happier. He's getting a hospital type bed, which means he'll be able to independently get out of bed, which is a huge thing for him, and the mental health people are coming out weekly, which means he's got someone to talk to. He and Pauline used to go on a lot of holidays, but they've decided that as that can't happen now that she'll buy a matching bed for herself, plus two of those chairs that rise up and ease people to their feet. It'll help both of them, and as she said, the money is there, they may as well use it to be comfortable.
The only bad thing is Pauline had to have words with nanna. She went to dad's the day after he got out of hospital and kept on asking why he did what he did, even after he said he didn't want to talk about it. Pauline had to step in and tell nanna to stop, and then nanna said that he was her son. Which I totally get. But she needed to be told that stop means stop.
Mam is doing okay, too. She got an iPad at Christmas, and between that and her new clear sight is having fun exploring stuff online. She's learning new stuff every time I go up. The last was how to take photos on her iPad, so that night we got a load of pictures taken, manipulated and then shared via text and FB. Yesterday we moved onto the new exciting territory of browsers and how to find stuff on Google. Goodness knows where she'll end up. Mam's also got herself a cat and seems to be enjoying having some non demanding company.
Many years ago I started watching Six Feet Under. Saw season one, then stopped. Last year I picked it up again, watching on the Atlantic channel, and finally watched the final episode last week, and oh man, that was excellent tv. It was a fitting end, one that made me cry but at the same time, matched the show perfectly. It also didn't disappoint, unlike the last scene of The Sopranos, which still annoys me even thinking about it. I'm going to miss watching the Fishers in all their fucked up glory.
I haven't done anything fannish for a while, I must end that soon, see if I'm still capable of stringing together words. Maybe I'll start with shape shifting sheep or do more snowflakes. Or you know, wander off to read in the bath and then watch Call the Midwife, later.
I did see the photo of Mikey posted by Alex from All Time Low. Wentz face, backwards ageing and me wanting to shake him and demand to know about his band/music. Really, if he doesn't tell us concrete details soon I'm just going to make them up myself.

Date: 2014-02-19 04:46 pm (UTC)Somehow she managed to install spotify and then post multiple posts of a song to her FB. Thankfully she hasn't really explored browser wise yet *g*

Date: 2014-02-19 04:48 pm (UTC)Man is still exploring, but doesn't seem to have found any sites that are too scarring yet.
Though she does seem addicted to police channel FB pages.

He has his new chair now, one that tips him up out of it, and is very taken with it.
