Happy belated birthday for yesterday for
x_dark_siren_x. I hope you had a fantastic day.
It's the final day of the positivity meme. I haven't posted 5 days in a row like this for a very long time, so thank you to
dine for giving me the prompt to do so.
So, what positive things have happened today?
(1) I went to watch the Pride march in Sunderland. It was only small but many more people went to the free concert afterwards, and it was lovely to see so many people, especially the small children waving their paper rainbow flags. This also ties into some other things I've been thinking about. In the march were groups representing many different public sectors. Included in that were the police. Yesterday we went to see Pride at the cinema, a film set around the miner's strike and how a gay and lesbian group helped them out and all the issues and friendships that surrounded that support. The film is based on a true story, and in it was a section where a group of policemen made very homophobic remarks and actions while at one of the strike lines. Then today we had the police marching with their rainbow flags tucked into their uniforms while the main police station on the outskirts of the city was flying a rainbow flag. And it was a nice reminder that while things still aren't perfect acceptance wise, they have changed hugely for the better.
(2) Corey has a job tomorrow. It's only for two days but he's been trying so hard to get a part time job to fit around his college hours. It's been almost two years now and he's tried so many places, but got nowhere. He even had to put his name down on a waiting list to help out in a charity shop for work experience and got nowhere. So this will be a big confidence boost for him as well as providing some money in his pocket.
(3) For my last positive thing in this meme I'm going to say fandom, and specifically the people in it. The awesome people who create such awesome works to entertain us. That provide comments, hugs, support and gentle kicks to the backside when needed. The people all around the world who share their lives, their thoughts their talents and friendship. Fandom is awesome. You reading this are awesome. Simple as ♥
