Jan. 18th, 2015 12:56 pmMy email deleting sessions have hit where I posted Tints, so I've been indulging myself by first reading the story and then comments. No lie, I enjoyed them both. I also read my bodyswap story for the first time in ages a few days ago and enjoyed that too.
And ha, this morning I hit a post saying how much I loved the Mad as Rabbits Panic video, so had to go see if that was still the case, and yep, it really is. That's my favourite Panic era by far RyRo looked amazing and I was always fond of JWalk. Of course watching that led to a BB!Panic rabbit hole. I Write Sins remains such a great video, I love tiny Spencer, Ryan and Brent in the background, and now I think I'll have to revisit Nine in the Afternoon and Ryan's big clock.
Yep. Still good.
A couple of days ago I finished reading Stranger the first in The Change series. I did so on a rec by egelantier and I'm glad I followed it because I loved the book. So I was thrilled to discover the second in the series is out too. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it.
Before Christmas my dad gave us a bit money, so we used that plus Christmas money to get some stuff done. We had a list and have stuck to it, getting the shed knocked down first, and this week we're getting blinds put in Corey's room, the kitchen and the spare bedroom and getting one set of the living room blinds replaced. But what's best is we're finally getting a carpet in our bedroom -- we've had bare floorboards and a huge rug for ages now -- and along the landing and stairs carpeted, too. The price is a little gulp worthy, but it's good quality stuff, and as James knee walks once he's got his leg off it's best to get a nice thick carpet. The guy who came to measure said our stair carpet was actually dangerous as it was fitted so badly. I guess James and his dad aren't going to get a second job as carpet fitters any time soon.
So yeah, it'll be all go next week. The blind people are coming tomorrow so we need to clear the window spaces for them then get our bedroom emptied for Thursday. Also take the old carpet off the stairs which means unscrewing the stair-lift. At some point I need to gloss the paintwork, too. That needs doing asap so it has time to dry.
I'd do that today but don't actually have any paint. So what I shall do is get the things done that need to be done then read all the Ryan/Spencer bff fic I can get my hands on while listening/watching this excellent youtube playlist someone has made that's full of relatively early Panic, MCR, AAR, 30STM and FOB. It's on Helena atm but soon it's be The Kill and as always my mind will go to clone sex. It's inevitable each time I see that video.

Date: 2015-01-18 01:19 pm (UTC)TINTS!! Still awesome, you should enjoy reading it and the comments.
The JWalk era of Panic was the best, I agree. Although Spencer and Brendon moving forward as besties is my second favorite.
YAY home improvement! Sounds like some much needed stuff. Go you guys! I hope it all won't be too disruptive.

Date: 2015-01-18 01:41 pm (UTC)It is like a time capsule. I'm not reading everything as I'd never get my in-box sorted out, but every now and then something catches my eye and I have a quick read.
What I can say is you've been a constant over the years. I enjoyed re-reading the emails you sent me when I was writing my very first Gerard/Mikey story without either of us knowing how huge they were going to become for me.
Panic V2 will always be my favourite. Not just because of Ryan but the fact I loved the look and sound the whole band had going on. I can totally understand your love of Spencer and Brendon being bffs, but I still hold onto that Ryan and Spencer had that first. I know it's not true now, but their back-story is one I really like.
Hopefully it shouldn't be that disruptive. The man doing the carpets did mam's bedroom carpet last year and apparently he turns up with a full team and just gets everything done fast and well. So I'm hoping all will be done in a morning. I have to admit though, I'm not looking forward to emptying the bedroom on Wednesday.

Date: 2015-01-18 01:53 pm (UTC)OMG, old emails are the best. Feel free to email me old threads, and we'll pick up where we left off. *g*
Oh, I definitely agree. Ryan and Spencer were BFFs first, and that is part of what is so enticing to me about the JWalk era of Panic. Spencer and Ryan, with Brendon looking in longingly, and JWalk there to bring them all together into OT4. *g*
Damn, carpets in a morning?!?!? I hope it does work out that way. I'll totes be impressed.

Ahhhhhh. I need that in my life. A nice old skool story set at the cabin with longing and smoking up.
Apparently so. I'll be impressed if it works that way, too. Here's hoping.

Date: 2015-01-18 01:28 pm (UTC)I admit, bandom has absolutely spoiled me for modern Music videos. Those videos have all been odd in the best ways; now 'regular' vids seem lazy. Heh.
Wow! You're getting so much done! That's great - and exciting, eh? I look forward to the inevitable pictures. :)

Date: 2015-01-18 01:48 pm (UTC)I don't tend to re-read what I write often, so it's been nice to do that. When I have a nice chunk of time I may have to give When Day is Night Alone a re-read. It's been a while since I've read about poor Brendon suffering and Clan House.
There are some amazing bandom videos. Clones, monkeys, vampires! And now I must watch Sixteen Candles when I post this.
I'll share pictures for sure. One of the reasons I want to get the paint work done is the guy doing the carpets is an independent based on FB. As part of his advertising he posts photos of all the jobs he's done. I don't want my grey skirting boards displayed to the world *g*

Date: 2015-01-18 06:16 pm (UTC)The carpet is going to be lovely. It's so thick and springy and hopefully worth every penny.

Date: 2015-01-18 07:12 pm (UTC)Also, you guys have been hella on point with making lists and getting house things done(prepared for repairmen/carpetmen)
Hopefully the carpet people don't linger forever.

Date: 2015-01-19 02:45 pm (UTC)We had to stick to that list otherwise all the money would be frittered away and we'd have nothing to show for it. At least now the house is going to look nicer, and be cosy on the feet.
I hope so too. Though at least James will be home. He likes talking to strangers.

It must be so nice to be able to get all those things fixed. And hooray for plush new carpet that will be kind to James's knees! (And your feet too!) Good luck getting all of it installed and fitted!

Date: 2015-01-19 02:43 pm (UTC)BB!bands are so cute. I had a lot of fun in videoland yesterday.
The new plush carpet is going to be so lovely. I'm not looking forward to install day, or getting all the furniture out. But it's going to be worth the effort in the end.

Date: 2015-01-19 02:40 pm (UTC)I'm glad you enjoyed the bb!Panic video rabbit hole, too. I did, it was a lovely way to spend some hours.
I'm so looking forward to things being done, especially the bedroom. I may even splash out on some new curtains and bedding.
