Jan. 24th, 2015 02:33 pmThe new stairs, landing and bedroom carpet is down and looking fantastic. It's so soft and springy to walk on and has that lovely carpet thing where when you hoover stripes are left behind. It's worth every penny, and man, the fitters worked for their money to get it down, especially on the staircase. Corey and James had unscrewed the stair-lift the night before, but when the fitters came they found they still couldn't get the carpet under the track, so the stair-lift ended up propped on bricks at the bottom and a tool-chest at the top as the fitter carefully fitted each tread so it was perfect.
In all it took them about 3 hours which was excellent going considering the issues they had. Then once they left all the furniture needed to be taken back into the bedroom. It all got done that afternoon, but by the night it felt like every bone and muscle in my body was aching. I was so ready for a hot bath.
Anyway, some pictures behind
James tidying my bookshelves. Next thing to be changed are those curtains.

The staircase and the stair-lift that caused so many problems. The hall, stairs and landing badly need decorating. I'm thinking a wallpaper in some kind of soft grey.

And a shot from further back while we were in the process of tidying up.

We also had new lino put down in the downstairs toilet but I'll spare you that picture.
To bring the doctor's thing to an end. I realised I couldn't make the appointment they'd given me so went down to change it in person. As it was dinner time, between the morning and afternoon sessions, there was only the receptionist there, no one actually waiting to see a doctor. While talking to the receptionist one of my doctors came to the desk and looked at the results there and then. Seems both blood tests were borderline under-active but not enough she wants to prescribe anything yet, so it's just a case of going back in three months to be tested again. Now why the couldn't say that on the phone I don't know. But yeah, everything is fine for that it seems.

Date: 2015-01-24 03:36 pm (UTC)Thank you! I wish I'd had my phone when the cats were first let out after the fitters had finished. The stairs were covered in cats rolling around *g*

Date: 2015-01-24 04:27 pm (UTC)I was so happy it got sorted like it did. I'm still not sure why they couldn't have just said that over the phone, though.
Our meme comments prompted me to look through gdocs and wow, I have some strange things in there. I think my earliest wip is the hockey one from 2009 with Brian, Panic v2 and MCR. Somehow I think that one is never going to see the light of day.

I was looking something up, and the SEAAU is from 2008!! OMG, I didn't realize so much time had passed!

Date: 2015-01-24 05:03 pm (UTC)Oh man, that's kinda anticlimactic, isn't it. They could've just said that on the phone indeed.

Date: 2015-01-24 05:07 pm (UTC)I know, I really don't get why they didn't. An actual appointment would have been such a waste of time.

Date: 2015-01-24 05:52 pm (UTC)Yay also for the doctor's thing not being bad news. I'm with you on why couldn't they say that on the phone. Ah well. *wry g*

Date: 2015-01-24 06:01 pm (UTC)The cats love the carpet. When they were let out after the fitters were finished they all ran to the stairs and rolled around. I wish I could have caught a picture because they looked so funny.
A phone call would have made much more sense.

Date: 2015-01-24 06:38 pm (UTC)I'm glad it wasn't bad news at least, but weird they couldn't tell you on the phone! <333

Date: 2015-01-28 06:54 pm (UTC)I know, I don't get the lack of a phonecall at all. Everything she told me could have been easily said that way.

Date: 2015-01-24 06:51 pm (UTC)(I miss carpet...we have wood floors here, which is cool when you want to slide around in socks but also not cool when you DON'T want to slide around in socks since i ALWAYS wear socks in the house)
I'm glad to hear your results weren't bad bad. *hugs* that everything balances out.
You continue to as always be awesome :):):)

Date: 2015-01-28 06:53 pm (UTC)A good carpet is a lovely thing. We have wood in the passage way and while it's practical it's a bit cold on the feet.
Thank you ♥

Date: 2015-01-24 06:52 pm (UTC)I guess borderline is better than bad news, but why that couldn't have been handled with a phone call is beyond my understanding

Date: 2015-01-28 06:51 pm (UTC)Why a phonecall wasn't made still boggles me. It makes no sense at all.

Date: 2015-01-24 07:13 pm (UTC)Those curtains match neither the walls nor the carpet so yes, I can definitely see that new ones are needed. (The sunflowers on the window sill on the other hand looks great against the yellow walls.)
Look, a kitty! I guess your cats are just as interested in everything you do as Lancecat is? He doesn't interfer usually but he sits a little bit away and closely watches everything I do :-)
That's good to hear about the doctor thing. But yeah, why didn't they tell you so on the phone?!!

Date: 2015-01-28 06:45 pm (UTC)You're right, the green curtains don't match at all. The grey and yellow isn't the best match either, but that can be lived with, especially if I get some curtains that tie the colours together. I just have to find them now.
Most of the cats were very interested in what was going on. They were all quite happy to sit watching from a distance. Apart from Pansy, she's still very nervous about anything new and will hide away until things are back to normal.
I still don't get why they didn't tell me on the phone. It makes no sense, especially when the doctors are always so busy.

Date: 2015-01-25 02:32 pm (UTC)Ahh, borderline results. I get many of those but my reaction is 'Can't something be definitively bad for once?! Then I could do something about it!' I realise this is not the usual response though and I hope your next results are normal.

Date: 2015-01-28 06:42 pm (UTC)I get your reasoning about results too. When the doctor first mentioned I could have an underactive thyroid I googled and discovered I did have a lot of the symptoms. While I have no real desire to be on meds for life, I wouldn't say no to those symptoms easing.
