Aug. 4th, 2015 03:26 pmIt's one of those sleepy days today, I've just had a mid-afternoon coffee or else I'd have been asleep on the couch.
But it's a beautiful drying day for the washing, so I've got the bedding drying on the line. But, before I did that I took some photos in the garden. Which are right
That's our wildflower corner. My desk and computer is on the other side of that window so when I look outside I can see the stuff on the shelf. Which at the moment is pansies, radishes, lettuce, peppers and very late strawberries. The shelf is a decking board that got left behind when the brick shed was knocked down. One day when dad was here he decided it would make a great shelf, which it does. But man, I wish he'd had that idea when there wasn't just me and him to put it up.

This is a passionflower and it's just beautiful. We bought two climbers, planted them both in the same place, and while both grew beautifully only one flowered.

Part of the tomato overspill. We ended up putting plants anywhere we could find space, and these are doing okay next to the greenhouse.

This was taken yesterday, and unless you like pictures of bins isn't the best photo. But it helps picture the layout of our garden, which is a weird cut off wedge shape as we're the end house of the row with a path going diagonally at the end of the garden. So we have the greenhouse in the middle, the bigger part of the garden where the wildflowers are to the right when I'm looking out of the back door, and the smaller decked part with the overflow tomatoes to the left. Also, more overflow tomatoes next to the bin.

We had tomato casualties this morning. Being the end house on top of a hill means it gets pretty windy in our garden, and that was the result. They're tied up again now, though.

Inside the greenhouse. If you squint you may just see the red tomatoes. Red tomatoes. Finally we've done it \o/ They taste delicious, too. There's a row of cucumbers, peppers and chillis on the other side, and those flowers need to go outside when we decide on the best spot.

The courgette patch. There's about 15 plants in there, all growing courgettes like crazy. It's a good thing we like them. Plus the Jerusalem artichokes and just seen at the right of the photo, the pea pods. While at the left of the photo is the raised bed with all the onions, and next to it, the raised bed with beans and carrots.

SO yeah, a brief look at our garden. It looks much better in reality because goodness knows, I'm no photographer. But if you're ever passing you're welcome to come and sit on the bench, eat pea pods and have a cold drink of pop. Or if it's a day that dad's here, help mix cement and examine plants for hours *g*
Something totally different to end. JM linked to this Walking Dead photo on twitter. It hits my hand holding thing so hard.

Date: 2015-08-04 04:08 pm (UTC)I really do love it. It's come together beautifully this year. It'll never be a regimented garden as we just shove stuff where we have space, but I like it like that. The final piece will be getting our hands on a small table and chairs, so we've been keeping an eye on the sales. Then I can sit and watch everyone walk by.

Date: 2015-08-08 11:25 am (UTC)The wildflowers look so pretty, and some other kinds have finally started to flower now to break up the orange.
Poor you. It's horrible when the weather is like that. Especially at that time :(
