So what have you been up to?

Recently helping Corey sort stuff out for uni. Helping make lists, decide together what kitchen stuff he needs to take etc. He's done all the big things himself, now it's just getting the smaller stuff sorted. I'm also organising a celebration dinner for Wednesday. It's for all his immediate family, which is great except it will be the first time mam and dad have seen each other since their divorce and mam and Kayleigh don't like my brother's partner and she doesn't like them, but I thought, screw it. It's Corey's celebration, they can sit at opposite ends of the table if need be.

Major life changes? Same old same old?

Just Corey heading to uni. I suppose for me you could say the wls thing, but it's just a lot of waiting at the moment.

What fandom are you in/do you spend most of your time in?

I'm still hanging in bandom. Mikey is still my favourite and seeing him so happy delights me. Saying that, I'm also patiently waiting for the next big thing to find me and sweep me away fannishly. It could have been Magic Mike but that fandom has tumble-weeds.

Where do you hang out online?

LJ and DW. I have a tumblr but haven't used it for years. I also go on twitter now and then, but never backread so miss a lot. And I really love instagram, so you know, if you use that and don't mind me following, let me know your name.

What are you reading?

I'm making my way through the Kate Daniels books right now. Werewolves, vampires, magic, kickass characters. I'm enjoying them loads.

What are you watching?

Thinking of what's in my DVR planner. My Kitchen Rules Australia, Hells Kitchen, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Agent Carter, Z Nation, Bake Off, The Last Leg, Wentworth. I've also got Killjoys and Aquarius to watch but haven't seen any eps yet.

What are you making?

Nothing. Unless you mean the very tasty cheese and tomatoes on toast I had for breakfast. A noise soon as it's coming up to dinner time and I'm still the only one up.

What are you squeeing about today?

Nothing yet but I am going to the cinema later and will be picking up a pair of trousers while I'm there. New clothes are always a good thing.

If you could rope old fandom friends into a new fandom, it would be.....

Magic Mike! Why is it not more active? I don't understand. There's a road trip, hot men, powerful ladies, excellent body positivity, Ken and Mike needing to patch up their friendship. It's all there, and yet, the fans aren't.

I should really watch/read/dive into _______ and then come talk to you about it!

Considering what a huge hockey fan I was back in the day you'd think hockey would attract me, but it just doesn't somehow. Same with MCU, love the characters and it seems to have loads of stories with tropes I love, and yet, that hasn't grabbed me either. Something/someone needs to drag me into something new already.

What else is on your mind?

That James' is feeling better when he wakes -- he's having a flare up of his amc right now so has been off work. That dad has a good day on Wed so can come to the dinner. He wants to come and said he's coming but was really poorly yesterday. That Corey will be okay at uni.

Less rl focussed, I've been watching the last episodes of Glee this morning and remembering how excited people in fandom were when the first episode became available early. It was such a huge thing back then. It's sad how it ended up turning so ridiculous. Then after that I put on Kerrang on I Write Sins was on, and I remembered how much I used to love Panic V2. Ah, sweet nostalgia.

I'm so proud and rooting for Corey at uni. It should be a fun experience for him.

Poor Magic mike. I don't understand either. I might still write my other MMXXL idea, and do Yuletide with the hope of getting it, but yeah, tumbleweeds.

I hope James feels better.

I really do hope it is a fun experience. He's sorted out all the major stuff himself, including grants and loans, so he seems to have a handle on that. I suspect it'll be the little things that trip him at first, but at least he knows how to cook and wash his own clothes, so that's a start. Now getting them dried is another thing.

I've been checking out the halls he's going into and they've been consistently voted the best party halls for a few years running. Thankfully it's literally only a few minutes walk to the computer building for those hung over mornings *g*

I honestly don't understand the MMXXL situation. I mean, I'd get it if it was a small fandom, but it's practically none existent. So yes, you should write more!

He's going to try and get a doctor's appointment tomorrow and hopefully they'll be able to try some different meds.

Glee is frustrating. I was watching the penultimate episode which focussed on the first season and that season was so good and had so much potential. That it ended like it did was ridiculous.

You watch so many shows. How do you keep them apart?!

I didn't know you could buy trousers at the cinema ;-) I hope you watched something fun.

Poor James. I'll keep my fingers crossed he'll feel better soon. And that your dad will be well enough to come to the dinner.

I hope they do try and get along. I don't even care if they don't speak as long as they keep it civil.

Practice I guess. I've always watched a lot of tv, I love getting lost in a new series.

Ahahaha, yeah. It would be great if you could get trousers at the cinema, it would save a lot of time. We went to see Mission Impossible. It was fun, more than I expected in fact as it was James' choice.

James is off to the doctor's tomorrow so hopefully they'll have some meds that will help. And I really do hope dad will make it. He looked terrible yesterday, falling asleep mid conversation and really out of it. He really wants to go and if it was just us him having a bad day wouldn't be such an issue and he'd come along anyway. But not when so many people will be there, some of whom he hasn't seen for years or even met before in the case of James' side.

I think if you were a hockey fan, you're actually less likely to be in hockey fandom.... that's how it worked for me, anyway. Everywhere I look in hockey rpf I see #DOINGITWRONG so... I don't look. ;D

Idk about Magic Mike, but movie fandoms are always so fast.. when they don't get off the ground it's like they never existed. They're usually pretty action-based, too.

I really can't remember why I didn't get into Glee (though I have a vagueish idea that it had to with my dislike of Ryan Murphy? *hands*)

It's all there, and yet, the fans aren't.

I'd say "well, it's a movie fandom" EXCEPT that there are other movies like Inception and The Losers and they're still going (with Inception surging as one of "the" main fandoms back in its heyday).

From what I've seen, the majority of the Magic Mike squee has happened on Tumblr? (Tho I might be wrong since that's based more on the MM posts I've come across my dashboard).

In the end, no one can predict what will or won't get Fandom into a frenzy. :-/
