Sep. 17th, 2015 01:29 pmI mentioned last time that Kayleigh could be getting a house, well, she got it, accepted it, and then had to turn it down.
To set the scene. When Kayleigh was with Kay they were good friends with another couple. Then they all had a falling out and suddenly the other couple were best friends with Kayleigh's childhood best friend, going on holiday together, posting photos on FB and all that. Then they fell out with that friend. It also turns out they've also had a falling out with Kay, just to show how their friendships tend to go.
The house Kayleigh was going to get is next door to that couple, and they in turn live next door to my brother's partner and my niece and nephew. It was a bit awkward as Kayleigh and my brother's partner don't speak now, and of course her former friends really don't like her now. But even so, the house was decorated nicely and located in a perfect place, right next to the park and only a few minutes walk from the main shopping street and my house and mam's.
Kayleigh accepted the house, started buying stuff for it, and then a few days ago the sister of one of the couple turned up at mam's house and started screaming at Kayleigh if she took the house she'd regret it. That Kayleigh's windows and car would be done in, mam's house would be done over, Kayleigh's best friend would be done over. Just all these threats that really unnerved mam and Kayleigh. When I found out my first reaction was to tell them to go to the police, but they're not. The person making the threats is the partner of a really dodgy guy who would have no hesitation in carrying out what was said. Kayleigh had a good talk with lots of people and while she hates giving in, just wouldn't feel safe, plus, doesn't want to risk anyone else. It sucks and I'd like to think people like that don't actually exist, but sadly they do.
So yeah, no house for her. Though she told the housing officer why she's had to change her mind so she's still number one on the list.
James has a meeting at work the other day. He's been off work for a while now with a really bad flair up of his AMC, the worst he'd had since I've known him. They've been really good with him, up to offering councelling if need be, but where we're at now is he's got a week and a bit before a phased return if he feels better and then maybe changing his shifts so he goes from 12 hour to 10 hour shifts with fewer days off and maybe moving bases to the one that's much closer to home. That would be a big help, going from about a 40min commute to 10. But it would mean going to a much smaller building and James really likes being at the main building and loves his team. But it's something to think about for sure.
Corey seems to be getting on nicely. I could tell he got a bit upset on his first call home, but I'm guessing that was home sickness hitting for the first time. His first classes are on Monday coming up, thankfully starting in the afternoon as from what he's been saying he's spent this freshers week out on the town until 4am every night. Which is fine, I'd rather he got it out of his system now.
Fannish stuff.
abonniethistle did that A03 meme. My down and dirty version without links. They're all at my A03 if you want to read #lazy

Date: 2015-09-17 09:04 pm (UTC)Poor James! I hope things will work out for the best.
Definitely better for Corey to get it out of his system before classes start in earnest :-)
The gross tourbus story is so much fun!

Date: 2015-09-20 07:50 am (UTC)James is thankfully getting better now. It was his good arm that was the worst worry. The last thing he needs is to have to stop driving.
Last night we got a phone call from Corey saying they were playing some kind of scavenger hunt and James may get a random call from a stranger and if he did, play along with it. Which suggests Corey is still having a fine old time of it *g*
Thank you!

Date: 2015-09-18 08:11 am (UTC)And poor James! I hope he feels better soon. I wish him the best in work and health.
And, yeah orientation week is all about staying up late making friends and having "deep" conversations. I remember it well! *g*

Date: 2015-09-18 08:30 am (UTC)Yeah, the whole situation was ridiculous. I'm just hoping Kayleigh gets offered an even better house.
James' work has been amazing with him. He is feeling better now, so fingers crossed that continues.
Yeah, that sounds like his week. He made me laugh when I was talking to him as a huge half marathon goes past his halls and I asked if he'd seen the runners. He said no, he'd been asleep *g*

Date: 2015-09-18 08:33 am (UTC)Definitely fingers crossed.
Hee! Can a marching band go by next and he can sleep through that? Hee!
