Nov. 25th, 2015 08:42 amMy nephew was born on Friday 13th, welcome to the world baby Matthew James Robert. He's adorable, was nearly ten pound born and is just this lovely, snuffly, solid baby.
I've been reading Uprooted lately, and just finished it last night. I really enjoyed the story, it had some interesting characters and I really like the world that was created.
James is back to a 11 hour shift now, which means one more hour in a week or so and he's back to normal shifts. He was supposed to be working 7:30 - 7:30 on Christmas eve, Christmas day and boxing day, but thankfully has been given a half day off so will be home around 2 on Christmas day. In terms of getting a half day over the holidays that's the best he could have been given, arriving home to eat after I sort out dinner solo, or with Corey's help.
I was very happy to see that Mikey and Gerard had gone to Frank's show the other night. Then reading more saw someone had seen Ray there, too. I haven't seen any photos of them together, but it was lovely to just know they were all there.
I know not many people watch Strictly Come Dancing on here but man, I'm enjoying this year. Especially watching Gleb. I know he's too full up on himself but wow can he dance and his choreography is amazing. Plus, looks wise I think he's stunning. I do enjoy his tendency to go topless, and his look at the weekend, with the lace up trousers and bands around his shoulders. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
They've decided to name storms here, so storm Barney has been giving us a kicking -- which amuses me as to me Barney will always be the purple dinosaur. Years past and I can still remember that damn song due to Corey loving the show so much. The wind did a number on the garden one night, but thankfully most things had been put away in the greenhouse and the pots that did go flying were easily sorted. Then one night we had this really intense snow that actually laid for most of the day. Doesn't the weather know this is England? Snow is not supposed to happen yet.
I had a really nice day on Saturday. It was much colder than it has been but that crisp cold that comes along with sun. We were out most of the day and after eating dinner in a new favourite to us place, saw Pauline and two of her friends when we were leaving. So we got to talk to her for a while. The only problem was I had a rather embarrassing coughing fit. I've been unable to rid of a cough for the last two weeks now and while talking got a tickle in my throat that just wouldn't quit. I also got James' birthday present that day, so he's sorted.
For the first time I dreamt about dad last night. In the dream I knew he has died but he walked up walking our old dog and then just stood there and I gave him a hug and he was so real and solid and upright and just, dad. It was lovely, until I woke up so incredibly sad knowing I'd never get that in reality again.
To end on a happier note. Our new car is in the country. It's off getting adapted now, but we'll get it by the end of next week. I'm going to miss the meriva, though. It's been a lovely car, and I've really liked the glass roof.
Now though, time for breakfast as we're taking mam to the doctors at 11.

Date: 2015-11-26 01:31 pm (UTC)Irritating is the right word. Also annoying when you get the coughing fits that seem to hit out of nowhere.

Date: 2015-11-26 06:56 am (UTC)I'm sorry, that part about Barney made me laugh myself silly. (just, weather people, don't you know??)
I hope that cough goes away soon!

Date: 2015-11-26 01:25 pm (UTC)Seriously, I mean, Barney? I don't get this need to name storms.
Thank you. It is easing at last. Which is a good thing, I've been spending a fortune on cough medicine.

Date: 2015-11-26 01:06 pm (UTC)And double yay for James to get some time off on Christmas.
OMG, it is always so sad when I dream about my Dad. I must admit in my dreams I never know he is dead, so it is extra bittersweet waking up in the morning.

Date: 2015-11-26 01:22 pm (UTC)I was so pleased he got some time off. For a while it was looking like he'd get none at all.
Yeah, bittersweet would be the word. It's always a jolt to wake up to the reality.

Date: 2015-11-26 06:38 pm (UTC)Good to hear that James will have at least a little time free to enjoy the holiday.
They've started naming storms here in Sweden too! We never did before. I wonder if it's EU forcing us? I thought snow wasn't supposed to happen AT ALL in England ;-)
Crisp, sunny days like that are so wonderful. I love how fresh the air feels. Your cough sounds very irritating though. I hope it will be gone soon.
I can imagine that sort of dream being both sweet and sad.
Hooray for your new car!
I hope your mam's doctor appointment went well.

Date: 2015-12-06 02:34 pm (UTC)I was disappointed when it looked like James would have no time off over the holidays at all. On days shifts he leaves before 7 and gets home after 8 in the evening so would miss loads. So an afternoon off is great.
It could be the EU forcing the naming of storms. And you're right of course, snow is never supposed to happen here! *g*
My cough is almost gone, but James has it instead now. Hopefully soon we'll both be healthy again.
The new car is beautiful, very shiny and very orange!
