Dec. 12th, 2015 04:04 pmWe went and brought Corey home for Christmas yesterday. He was supposed to be having one last weekend in Newcastle, and we would get him on Monday, but it turns out he's got no money left, so an early home time it was. It's so lovely to have him back for a few weeks, and of course Milo is over the moon that his best friend in the world has returned.
It's snowing heavily and has been for a few hours, so I've wrapped a few presents, tidied up a bit and now I'm going to catch up online, as I've no intention of going anywhere.
I went out to dinner with nanna and Pauline on Tuesday, just the three of us meeting in town and then eating. It was nice, but really didn't do my lurking cold any good as I didn't feel at all well until yesterday. Due to a constantly running nose I was rocking the Rudolf nose at one point, but thankfully that's gone now, and I've just the dry skin and an empty tissue box as reminders.
Some unexpected and good news. Back in February when James had his accident the bumper of the car was also cosmetically damaged where it hit the stone wall. Once he was feeling better and knowing we'd be changing cars later in the year James phoned the motability specialist and was told it was pointless getting the bumper fixed and paying the excess as we'd lose our good condition bonus anyway as we'd told the insurance company about the damage. Which was fair enough, we didn't get the bumper repaired and were resigned to losing the good condition bonus. Then two days ago we got a letter that included a cheque and it seems we got it anyway \o/
It was such a relief as things are a little tight right now and it means we can get our Christmas shopping finished. We've also managed to rig some string to the boot of the new car so James can actually shut it. It's still a bit awkward and he needs to use his chin to hold the boot down while tucking the string back in, but mostly I'm with him when he needs to use the boot, and if I'm not he can always ask anyone nearby. The string option shouldn't need to be used that often.

I'm feeling much better, I just wish this cough would go completely. It's hanging on for all its worth.
The bonus was such an amazing surprise, and will be very easily spent.

Date: 2015-12-14 06:42 pm (UTC)Corey's had a great first time, though really was down to his last penny. He had to phone and ask us to transfer some money into his bank account just so he could go to a Christmas meal. So it was no surprise when he said he'd be coming home early.
Yep, it really is :D
