Thank you to [personal profile] sylvaine for the very beautiful card, which was so cleverly made, [personal profile] romantical and [personal profile] ephemera for their gorgeous cards, too. Also, now I've opened the present, thank you Turlough for the mitts, headscarf and neck muff set, they're so cosy and comfy. You can see me modelling two of those things here

After the truly horrible Christmas eve day, the rest of Christmas went very nicely. In the end both mam and Kayleigh came to ours, but at different times. I made Christmas dinner with turkey, pork, roast parsnips, mash, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets and of course, loads of stuffing and red cabbage. Leftovers were plentiful and very much enjoyed, and then on Boxing day evening there was the usual Boxing day buffet which was also very tasty.

I got some nice gifts, including a new monitor. You may remember mine broke earlier this year and I've been using a small square one from freecycle, well I have a new one now. Corey wanted a new monitor too, so he picked them. Which is why I now have a huge monitor that's at least twice as big as the one I've been using. I have to admit, it took some getting used to at first. I also got a load of Lush stuff, and added to that pile by buying more during the online Boxing day sale and then today, went instore and got even more. My bathroom now smells amazing and I have enough shower gel, soap, bath bombs and bubblebath bars to last me many months.

What I didn't get this year was books. Which was weird. Mam always buys me a stack of them but this year I asked for clothes instead. So I've various dresses and shirts -- and what I'm wearing today, a long line striped jumper with a back zip fastening that makes me think I've put a cardigan on back to front -- but no books, which again, so weird.

Taking a step back a bit, something that happened on Christmas eve before everything went to hell. Kayleigh asked if I'd meet her up mam's early in the morning, so I was up there for 7am. Mam was in bed so I had a long talk with Kayleigh as we waited,

Kayleigh's girlfriend J has just started on a female to male transformation. She's officially changed her name but hasn't started hormone treatment yet, so we got to talking about labels and how Kayleigh's been labelled as gay since her teens but will soon have a male partner, so would that mean she's now straight? What she's decided is labels don't matter, but what does is falling in love with the person and not a gender, so I guess she's label less. And in case anything thinks I'm being disrespectful using a female pronoun for J, that's what she wants until she officially starts the hormone part of her treatment.

It was just nice to be able to talk like that with Kayleigh. The circumstances weren't the best, but being able to freely talk about something so important and personal made up for that a little.

After a few accident and sick free weeks James was sent home from work today. Some of you may remember he slipped over in the disabled toilet at work last year because its got a shower in it and people kept using it and not mopping the floor. Well, after a long time cleaning up after themselves it's started to happen again, so, to try and avoid slipping he went to the normal toilets, where apparently there'd been a leak no one had reported and he slipped and landed on his backside, giving himself a shock. Thankfully that's all that happened because the thought he could have fallen on his arm makes me shudder.

And ahhhh! I just refreshed LJ and [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 is open for business. I can barely call myself a writer any more but I love that challenge so much, and you know I'm signing. You should, too!

You're looking fabulous in your new accessories!

I'm getting hungry just reading of all your Christmas food :-)

Hooray for a new monitor! And new Lush toys! It totally sounds wrong that you didn't get any books though. What are you supposed to read while you're enjoying your Lush toys without new books?!

Your and Kayleigh's conversation sounds so good. It must be wonderful to be able to talk about important things like that with your sister.

Why are people so thoughtles??!!! I'm very glad to hear he only shocked himself. A fall like that could so easily have been much worse.

Of course you're signing up! It wouldn't be early spring without a picfor1000 story from you!

Overall it sounds to be of the good - but poor James, I hope he is okay now.

I'm so glad to hear that Christmas itself was good, and that James isn't any more than shaken up by his fall.

You look very smart (and warm) in your nifty headband and mittens!

Glad to hear you'd a good Christmas day, and such a good talk with Kayleigh. And I'm *very* glad to hear James wasn't hurt. Yikes!
