Snowflake Challenge -- day seven

I consider myself a Trekker.
Voyager is my favourite series of Trek, and Tom Paris my favourite character.
Voyager helped launch me into fandom in so many ways. The first slash fic I read was Voyager slash, and the first mailing list I was active in was a one for Paris/Torres. Now, I was and am still all about Paris/Kim and Chakotay/Paris, but Paris/Torres were also special. They're a couple that shouldn't have worked, but they did, and I loved them and their relationship.
That mailing list was where I cut my teeth on sending feedback, and I used to eagerly check my email to see if any new parts of stories had been posted. In a way I'd love to re-read those posts, but in another it's probably best that I don't, because I was young and giddy and still finding my way in this whole new world of cyber communication.
So yeah, Tom and B'Elanna, one of the first couples that were important to me, one I loved watching and discussing and one that showed there were other people out there who felt the same.
The music video below -- which is sadly low quality -- is one set to Savage Garden's To The Moon and Back, a song that I love anyway, but one I totally believe was meant for this pairing.
They're saying, "Mamma never loved
her much"
And, "Daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from
human affection"
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right
kind of pilot to come

Date: 2016-01-07 04:53 pm (UTC)I even wrote to one of the writers of the official tie in books to say how sad it was to read Tom referred to as Ensign Paris. Which he was at the time as he'd been demoted in the show. But it still looked so wrong. They were kind enough to write back too *g*

Date: 2016-01-10 02:33 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, I stopped watching television when I went off to college (the little town I lived in didn't have reception - you had to pay for cable to get even the basic channels) and so I completely missed out on DS9 and Voyager when they happened, and I've just never made the time and effort to back and check them out.
