Feb. 1st, 2016 04:09 pmIt's February. I know a lot of people don't like this month but I do. It's the kidlets birthday and my nanna's, and really, celebrating the birthdays of two people I love so much is an excellent thing and gives an automatic thumbs up to the month.
It's just taken me far too long to get rid of a door to door seller. Normally I don't answer but while I was peering through the peep hole James shouted asking who it was, so I felt I had to answer. I wish I hadn't, I kept saying no I didn't have plans to get new windows, or a new kitchen, or a new bathroom, and when I say we've no money for improvements like that being told they'd lend it to me doesn't mean I'm going to say, oh that's different! Come in and let me apply for more debt for stuff we have no intention of buying.
James has been off work again the last few days. He was sent home Saturday because he was finding it hard to walk due to pain in the side of his foot and toe. He's been worried that his foot has started to turn over for a little while, understandably as that was why he had his other leg amputated. But, like I told him, he was 13 when he made the decision to amputate, medical matters have changed hugely since then. Plus, that's a really long way up the road yet and may never happen. But I do suspect he'll end up in a hard foot splint again. He used to have one when we first met but hasn't had to use one for a really long time.
We went to the walk in centre on Saturday and he's on antibiotics in case infection is an issue, next will be to get a referral to the foot specialists. Unfortunately as it's his foot and not arms it means a whole new from scratch referral, so goodness knows when that will happen.
When I got my unicorn horn last week the lady in Lush demonstrated some skin conditioner which was so lovely. I couldn't justify the cost at the time but I remembered I'd got a small Christmas version in one of my gift sets, so looked that out yesterday. While doing that I found some glittery dusting power, and it's fantastic stuff. Unless you put it on after your bath and your body butter. Because if you do that glittery dusting powder turns into glittery lumps. I'm just saying.
With James being off his feet yesterday we both had a pj day, and I read a load of Musketeer fic, and after checking out the kink meme, wrote just over 1k of Musketeer fic. It's for a five things prompt -- which they seem very fond of in that fandom -- and I have no idea if I'll ever finish or post it, but I really enjoyed getting lost in the words.
Storm Henry has hit today, just after we got rid of storm Gertrude. I woke up in the middle of the night and was surprised to look outside and see for the first time in days it wasn't windy. So I opened the window to let in some fresh air. By the time I woke again the wind was back and has been getting stronger all day. I've already rescued the bin once but next time it goes over it's getting left.
I intend to stay inside, catch up online and watch tv. I've finally started to watch Sons of Anarchy. Sky have all the seasons on box sets until July, so I have until then to get them all watched. I think it's going to be an interesting ride.

Date: 2016-02-01 09:26 pm (UTC)I'm keeping everything crossed for James. Both that the referral will go through quickly and that there is nothing major wrong with his foot.
Personal experience talking, I presume ;-) I'm all for things that sparkle but maybe not lumps.
Hooray for writing!
So it was Gertrude that was harassing us over the weekend. And Henry that will do so tomorrow. I do wish the British Isles would keep its weather to itself sometimes.
I hope you've had a nice evening!

Date: 2016-02-01 11:31 pm (UTC)I like February! It's the start of spring (technically, here) and things are getting lighter, like Turlough said!
I hope James is able to get in to see the foot specialists soon.

Date: 2016-02-02 03:47 pm (UTC)I'm liking all this February liking! I'm used to people saying it's the worst month, and I'm always thinking, but I like it!
Me too. He's been to the doctor's this morning but it was a very new doctor who wanted to try 5 more days of antibiotics before referring to the hospital. How that will help I don't know.

Date: 2016-02-02 03:51 pm (UTC)Thank you. He's been to the doctor's today but we couldn't get to see any of the senior doctor's who actually know him and his condition. The junior doctor he saw gave him five more days of antibiotics and said to come back for a referral. Why she couldn't just do it now I don't know.
Ahhaha, maybe. It was like having lumps of pastry stuck to my arms. Not pleasant at all.
Yep, Gertrude and Henry making themselves known. I'm getting tired of storms, my poor garden is so battered and it's impossible to tidy anything in this wind.

Date: 2016-02-02 03:53 pm (UTC)Thank you. He's in a lot of pain with his foot right now, but I'm just glad the NHS is so good in terms of him having time off as right now no way could he walk and do a full shift.

Date: 2016-02-10 08:18 pm (UTC)Gonna cross my fingers that James' foot stops bothering him as soon as possible.
Also, I have no idea why the Musketeers TV show didn't ping me. From what I've heard about it and the fandom, it sounds like it'd be fun to dive in.
I remember watching the first two episodes of SoA and not quite loving them but not outright hating them. Sorta want to go back and watch the series proper BUT I got super spoiled about developments on the last couple of seasons and that's dampened a lot of my earlier enthusiasm. :-/
