Feb. 24th, 2016 06:27 pmI've had the most excellent day.
First, we went to Mog on the Tyne, and it was everything I wanted and more. You have to book to go there, and can stay for an hour. It costs £5 per person plus any food or drink you buy, but I'm more than happy to pay that as it goes towards the upkeep of the cats, which are all rescue cats.
I loved it so much. I do have to say, if you're not a cat person you won't like it, but if you are a cat person you'll be in your element. Right now there are ten cats, and I got to play with them and stroke them and give them treats. I laughed when I turned around and one had a nibble of my piece of cake and was in creases watching as a cat tried to swipe the scone off the lady sitting next to us. Which is why I say you need to be cat people. Mam was disgusted and said she'd send back any cake a cat had touched, but that didn't bother me at all, and the lady just laughed at the scone stealing antics. I mean, the cats are taught not to pinch and the cat nannies stop them, but some of the young cats just can't help themselves.
It was just this cool, chilled out atmosphere and already I want to go back again. Pictures behind
The cat with its tongue out is Stan the man. He's the main cat of the cafe. He got hit by a car and has no bottom teeth, which means when he's relaxed his tongue falls out. The shot with James outside was when we'd just arrived. We were early and they keep curtains up when the cafe isn't open so the cats aren't bothered by people looking inside all the time, so they were in the process of taking those down.
The last pic is my Lush goodies, and the Mog on the Tyne mug James bought for me.

After that we drove to Metrocenter where I got some Easter stuff from Lush and three new dresses. That last one still astounds me. I'm sure you Camp Sparklers, UK popslashers and other assorted people who've met me will know I had a uniform of a long skirt to the ground and t-shirts. Because of my lymphodemia I always want my legs hidden so my MiL used to make me skirts, and while she was awesome to do so, she never used a pattern or anything, just a long bit of cheap material she'd pull together at the top with thick elastic. But now I have many pairs of wide legged trousers and long tops and pretty dresses, so many outfits that I wouldn't have to wash anything for well over a fortnight and still have clean clothes to wear. It's still amazing to think about. The problem is, I've ran out of plus sized hangers. So you know, any UK people, if you know of anywhere I can buy those please let me know.
It's just been one of those really lovely days and I've enjoyed it immensely. Especially so as I came back to the news Electric Century are giving their album away free in Kerrang. An actual album, and video of Mikey too, what a brilliant day.

Date: 2016-02-24 08:30 pm (UTC)we've a cat cafe here, though I've not yet visited (mostly because parking is tricky, and with my joints I'd rather not hike a couple blocks), but it does seem like a terrific concept. maybe I should rethink that :)

Date: 2016-02-25 05:28 pm (UTC)Excellent wardrobe news! It is nice to have a *choice* of things to wear. But I have no idea about plus sized hangers. Unless charity shops get them, on occasion? They do tend to end up with about a billion hangers, so you never know.

Date: 2016-02-25 05:43 pm (UTC)It was so relaxed in there, and I loved that the cats welfare was always the most important thing.

Date: 2016-02-25 05:45 pm (UTC)That's a shame about the parking. Hopefully one day you'll be able to go and find the perfect close spot so you won't have to walk so much.

Date: 2016-02-25 05:47 pm (UTC)On a tip I've bought some velvet covered hangers from Asda. Hopefully they'll do the trick. I don't hang trousers either, but my tops tend to slide off the smaller types of hangers.

Date: 2016-02-25 05:51 pm (UTC)Having a choice of clothes is rather overwhelming at times, but in a very nice kind of way. That's a good tip about the charity shops, next time I'm in town I'll ask. Thank you!

Date: 2016-02-27 03:49 pm (UTC)And so are new dresses! For some reason getting a new dress always makes me more happy than getting a new jumper or skirt. I'm so glad you get to experience that happiness too!
Excellent timing, Mikey!
