Mar. 28th, 2016 05:07 pmI hope anyone that celebrates it is enjoying/enjoyed Easter. I celebrated by having a chocolate egg, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also picked Corey up from uni yesterday and took him for a carvery dinner, so I was feeling very full last night.
Instead of bringing all his stuff home like he did at Christmas, Corey's just coming home for a few days here and there with his backpack and laptop. That makes sense as he's busy house hunting with his friends for his second year, so needs to go back to Newcastle every now and then. I also suspect the days he goes back correspond to the nights he goes out, the main ones being his Thursday rock group/student union night and the weekend.
This is his second visit back home for the Easter holidays and I have to admit to having a bit of a mope after the last time when he only stayed overnight and then went off to view a flat the next day. Preparing to move from halls to renting a place with his friends seems like yet another step forward in his independence. Which is good, and exactly what he should be doing, but still panged a little. But now he's home again and in his ratty joggers he'd never be seen dead in outside of the house and the dishwasher is going daily again and not every other day, and I've got over myself, so all is good.
Fannish wise I've done little, but am now up to season four of SoA, and am getting a little scared of what's coming up. I don't want things to change. I want Opie and Jax to be bros forever!
I did get an incredible comment on Grey Crimson Skies, the kind that makes you think, yep, that's why I do this writing lark.
I was at nanna's yesterday and she's not doing too good. Some of you may remember how she hurt her back three years ago. Well she's coped since then using a stick but last week her neighbour and very long time friend died. Her friend's family took nanna in the first car to the church, then to the graveyard. Then they offered her a lift home as she didn't want to go to the wake, but she said no and that she'd walk home. Between all the standing at the graveyard and then walking home she exhausted herself, and made things worse by going to pay her electric bill the next day even though she had a week to do so. The cemetery is only at the bottom of her estate and normally a five to ten minute walk, but nanna's 96 now, no way should she have attempted that on top of all the previous standing around. So now she can't move without serious pain and it was really horrible to see her like that. It didn't help that one of my brother's friends saw her in town and let slip my brother was back with his partner, which wouldn't have been an issue but nanna had never been told they'd split up and had been living apart for nearly a year.
She wasn't angry that she hadn't been told, more confused and kept asking if dad had known -- which he had -- but it wasn't something anything but my brother had the right to tell, and he didn't want her to know and worry.

Date: 2016-03-29 01:34 pm (UTC)Corey is having a brilliant time. He's enjoyed being in halls but is looking forward to having a house with his friends. I suspect some shocks about utility pricing will happen, though.

Date: 2016-03-29 01:39 pm (UTC)The thing is, she's still really independent, and despite only being able to walk short distances will get the bus all over. She must have really overdone things last week.
It was such a great comment to receive. And thank you for what you said, too ♥

Sadly nanna still isn't better. She's waiting for x ray results so hopefully those will show something.
