James went back to work this morning, I can't believe his three weeks off is over, and that we've been married for over a week.

These last few weeks have been packed so full, there hasn't been a day where we weren't off and out doing something, so today I've just been pottering around and catching up on some online things. And now I'm going to share last week for you. So, stuff about the wedding, time at Lumley Castle and photos behind

The morning of the wedding was a bit rushed. James had to go out first thing to take the decorations to the hotel and also pick up the cake the in-laws had bought for us and then the flowers. He also told me later that he had to stop in a lay-by and throw up, a case of nerves and tiredness hitting together I suspect.

Meanwhile I was at home waiting for the hairdresser and make-up artist to arrive. The arrangement was make-up artist first then hairdresser, but the make up artist was an hour late, and in the end I was left with about 10 minutes to get ready before we had to leave.

While we were waiting nanna phoned to say she'd had another fall, and no one was picking up at my uncles. Thankfully that got sorted and she did manage to come to the wedding even though she was a bit shaken. Really, that was the only down point of the day, that and the fact we'd arranged to have photos taken on the beach -- and paid for a mini bus to take people down there and wait while they were taken -- but it was so cold, wet and windy there was no chance that was going to happen.

I loved my flowers, we got them from a local florist and they were beautiful. I had a posy of red gerbera daises, and Kayleigh -- as a sort of unofficial bridesmaid, had peach gerberas. All of the guests got a red gerbera button hole, with James getting a special double version, and the florist also decorated Jaffa, our car, with a cream ribbon and huge bow on the front.

Nanna was travelling with us, so we went to pick her up and drove to the registry office, and everything was just so lovely. The service was really short, and my nearly 2 year old niece cried through it, but that didn't matter. Nanna was front row and looked so proud when I passed her my flowers to hold through the service and Corey looked so smart and I didn't think I'd get emotional due to us having been together for so long, but at the point we exchanged rings I got really close to shedding a tear, and probably would have done so if the service didn't end soon after.

After it was waiting around for the mini bus and getting photos taken, and Pauline was crying that dad wasn't there, and man, I missed him so much then, but mostly everyone was talking and smiling and happy. My niece pulled her daisy to bits so was holding a green stalk and we took even more photos, and I was so pleased then that things we going well.

The meal went really well, too. The hotel is more used to hosting huge elaborate weddings, but they still gave our tiny one just as must attention and respect. They'd decorated beautifully, the food was fantastic even though we'd kept it at £20 a head and while we couldn't have photos on the beach, where we were eating overlooked the ocean and I got to watch the rain and the waves crashing against the pier.

Around 6 friends started to arrive, so many more than I expected, and we got a lot of lovely gifts and cards and Kayleigh took mam home before she crossed that line between being merry and happy to drunk and mean.

Mam paying for us to stay at Lumley Castle was completely unexpected and an amazing surprise. She said at first she was going to book us in the actual day of the wedding but I'm glad she didn't as by the end of the day I was exhausted, and no way could either of us have dealt with packing a bag and heading off to a hotel, no matter how plush it was.

Though the night of the wedding after we got home Corey asked if it was okay for him to go to a party in Newcastle. Of course it was, so off he went, still with energy to spare while me and James sat on the couch like wet rags.

The next day it was off to the Castle, and what a place it was. Mam had splashed out on one of the top rooms, and it was top, both in terms of being plush and as it was up in the turrets, up seven flights of stairs. I tell you, if it had been this time last year I wouldn't have made it. Later we did discover there was a lift from the ground to the first floor, but after that it was stairs all the way.

But the room. Oh the room. It was gorgeous. You had to go through a fake wardrobe to get to the toilet and sink, while the bath was up a few more steps at the side of the room. It was a huge bath too, and I very much enjoyed a soak that night. We had this gorgeous and very comfortable four poster bed, and had windows to two sides of the castle, one of which was up a few steps in a little nook thing with window seats. Mam had paid for some extras, champagne and chocolates, a Lumley Castle teddy bear and a big bouquet of flowers all waiting. It was just lovely.

We also had dinner and breakfast, and the food was just, wow, especially dinner. I could eat it all again now.

While we were there they were holding a Harry Potter themed event, so got to see one of the banqueting halls laid out and even better, when walking down to dinner looked out of the window and in the garden courtyard saw loads of kids and adults dressed up and getting their photos taken holding owls. It was so surreal and yet fit into the surroundings perfectly.

Oh, and I forgot to say, just before we set off for the Castle a beautiful bouquet was delivered from some sparkly LJ friends. That was so unexpected and so lovely. Most of them don't hang here now, but I've said thank you elsewhere, but will also say it again here, they all rock, so so much ♥

Some photos. There's loads and this is long already so I won't caption, but they include Kayleigh, mam, nanna, Pauline, Pauline's daughter, Corey and the in laws, including FiL, MiL, SiL, her partner, nieces x2 and nephews x2.

Such lovely pictures!! I'm glad you had such a nice event, and I think it should make you tear up, even if it is 20 odd years after you guys got together, because it shows this still means something to you guys.

I'm also glad Nanna came even if she fell again. I hope she is feeling better now.

We are now on the same side of the Pond! I'm missing seeing you already! Who decided to go to Dublin anyways???? :-(

Now you're going to make me tear up! You guys are fabulous together, and are totally one of my favorite couples. {{glom}}}

Poor Nanna. Losing mobility or independence is horrible, but it happens to most of us. I'm just glad I can still travel- walking long distance and lugging luggage is getting harder and harder as I get older and older.

Yeah, I should have maybe planned a weekend with you and then go to Dublin. It wouldn't have been efficient, but still! One of my favorite people, after all.

I am at Camp!! Most people have arrived, except some stragglers coming on the trains this evening. We are all sitting around on our computers and tablets and phones (until CJ showed up and the hugging started, ahahahaha).

I want to run about and draw glittery hearts all around this photos. Aaaaaaahhh, everything looks amazing. Your updo is so beautiful! And I can't get over that dress - it is so fetching and just perfect on you. Your fellas look so dapper too.

Seems like you had just about the right mix of wedding shenanigans and awesome. I am so glad! And thank you for sharing so much of the festivities. I grinned my way through the entire photo set. Also - many joyful lols over your cake decoration. Oh hey, what flavor was the cake?

It's such a delight, seeing your lovely face. I am so very happy for you. Congratulations to you both. <3
