turpsRL catch up soon. It's been a good few days, including going to a new-to-me cat cafe \o/
Until then, the DW meme that's been going around and I've had sitting in an email since yesterday.

1. Why did you sign up for Dreamwidth?
Because a lot of my friends moved here. To be honest, I wouldn't have moved otherwise. I have no issue at all reading and crossposting from here, but I still prefer LJ.
2. Why did you choose your journal name?
Turps is the name I've always used online in fannish spaces. But on LJ someone had already nabbed it -- and last posted a thousand years ago! -- so when I came to DW I just chopped off the number.
3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
I do, because I still have a few friends who only post to LJ. And like I said above, I still love the place so have no issues at all in interacting in either.
4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?
I read, write on gdocs, social media, a little tumblr, twitter sometimes, instagram though I can't like anything on instagram on my desktop which is annoying. Away from fandom, keep up with my coupon/money saving sites, do lots of surveys, which are tedious but the rewards do mount up and tend to pay for Christmas. Lurk on quite a few other forums.
5. How about when you're not on the computer?
I swim, spend loads of time at the beach, go to the cinema often, go for walks at local parks, garden, shop, look after the house,see my relatives & friends, look after the cats. Nothing that exciting.
6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I can't think of anything offhand. I tend to talk about most things in my journal.
7. What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
While they're not that active now, no_tags, bandom_meme, bandom big bang. All excellent comms that provide/provided awesome works. Oh, and snowflake challenge. That's very cool.
8. What community do you wish was more active?
See above, except snowflake which is very active when it's snowflake time.
9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
I think brandywine needs to meet the Camp Sparkle people. Match made in heaven.
10. Tell me about your default icon.
It's Mikey and was made by crazybutsound a very long time ago. I don't change defaults often. In all my time on LJ/DW I've only had three.
11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
Pass. What they have suits me right now.
12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile?
It's been so long since I've looked at my interests I'm sure they're really out of date. Let me go look. Probably Mikey Way, h/c, gsf, watching too much tv and bandom
13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
I do, Mikey/Ryan, which is sadness because I know other fans are out there. Way bros, which again, I know you're out there other fans, and Durham Wasps, which was my ice hockey obsession for many many years before the greedy bastard John Hall bought the team and relocated it to Newcastle. Which yes, was still close but wasn't Durham, which is where the Wasps belonged. Not that I'm still bitter 20 years later....
14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
If you're talking actually getting into fandom at all, Voyager. If it's the writing side, The Sentinel. I haven't seen any comms for them on DW, but I haven't looked either.
15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
Well, I still like bandom but at the moment it's The Musketeers, and I love it because it has some excellent characters who are bros always, is slashy as all hell, has kick ass lady characters, especially Constance, but mostly, Aramis. The murderkitty himself.
16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
Well I post about most things, but I did get my latest fitbit badge yesterday, the one saying I've walked 250 miles since I got my fitbit. I'm pretty chuffed about that.
17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?

augustuscaesar who's one of my favourite people but sadly lives in Australia, but despite that we've met relatively often considering the distance.

Not much. I don't tend to post about mam acting up now unless it's really bad, because it's just an ongoing, boring thing.

The first default I had was Brennan from Mutant X. I suspect we may not have been friends back then, though it feels very weird to say so.
