Dec. 16th, 2016 01:01 pmThank you so much to
fleurrochard,
sylvaine plus tea, always an excellent choice for me!
saba1789,
venetia_sassy and
ihearthings_ii for the lovely cards. Getting post like that always brightens my mornings.
As of now all of my cards have been posted. If you didn't ask for a card and still want one you can still leave your address here, but unless you live in the UK I suspect they'll be more happy new year cards than happy Christmas ones.
Our bathroom is done! It looks so beautiful and the bath itself is amazing. I couldn't wait to get in last night, and it's easily a few inches deeper than the old one and also must be wider as my thighs don't touch the side, which means I could lie down and just relax. There's still a few things that need doing, they couldn't permanently fix the bath panel until the flooring gets put down, so it's just sort of popped in place at the moment, and the door hasn't been blocked on the bedroom side yet, but that will be done early in the new year.
I'm so incredibly pleased with how things have turned out, it really was worth every penny.

This was the second day, they'd spent the first ripping everything out.

One day was spent tiling. Apparently those mosaic tiles were a pain to fit.

And done!
With it being small place it doesn't photo as good as it looks in reality, but the bath really is huge and that attached hose so handy, and man, does it have excellent pressure.
Once the floor is put down the bath panel will be flush, and we need a nice light fitting as it's just a bare bulb at the moment. There's also a grey heated towel rail/radiator that looks so much better than the old white thing we had. We need some kind of cushioned floor that will be kind to James' knees, I just need to decide between a silvery colour or darker to match the accent tiles.
We've got a bathroom cabinet over the toilet, and I had to laugh as they fitted that yesterday and said it took a while as the side fell off when doing so. Dominique said one of the fittings must have failed, but I know that was a kind way to excuse my shoddy building skills.
Funny thing. After they'd fitted the bath they filled it with water to check the seals overnight. When I went to look at the progress, of course I was followed by the cats, and Tinker launched herself in the bath to check it out, not realising it was full to the brim. I've never seen a cat move so fast *g*
Now we just have to wait for the two huge bags of rubbish to be moved from our front garden. Though it's now a sink down as not long ago I looked up and saw two men rummaging then take off with the sink.
We're off to see Rogue One tomorrow, and pick up a few last minute bits and bobs Christmas wise. Because James is a member of the mobilty scheme at Metro Center he can book a parking space near the entrance, which is good as we went to Tesco this morning and it was manic, so I know MC will be a thousand times worse. James is also hiring one of the scooters as his back and hips have been acting up lately, so he can carry the bags while I scuttle behind and try to calm him down when inevitably, people keep stepping in his way.
For now though, I need to go wrap some parcels for pass the parcel at the Scout Christmas party. I've been instructed to make some layers difficult to open, so nearly a full roll of cellotape it is.

Cats, they're always checking out things they shouldn't.

Date: 2016-12-17 08:38 pm (UTC)I suggest that you go with a silvery floor. Dark floors make every speck of dust (not to mention cat hair!) become glaringly obvious. When they renovated the bathroom in my old flat they put in a dark floor. Five minutes after you'd cleaned it it looked dusty again!
Aw, poor Tinker! What a terrible thing to happen to an unsuspecting kitty! :-)
I hope you enjoyed the movie and that the shopping wasn't too terrible.

Date: 2016-12-18 08:37 am (UTC)That's a good point about dark floors. Silvery it is.
Cats are too curious for their own good sometimes. But, she survived just fine, after grooming for a really long time!
The movie was good, and shopping okay. It helped it was only odds and ends, I would have hated to be doing main shopping at this time.

Date: 2016-12-18 08:35 am (UTC)Poor Tinker. I'd say she's learned not to do that again, but know it's not true.

Date: 2016-12-19 06:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, I hear you on the personal shoddy building skills. I have 2 chairs to put together, but I'm kind of scared they will collapse on me, ahaha.

Date: 2016-12-20 08:29 am (UTC)Yikes. Chairs are serious business building! Good luck getting those done.
