Dec. 29th, 2016 08:58 amI'm about 2/3 through reading the bandom holidays stories, and there's some good stuff there. I'll probably do some recs when I'm finished, but it always amazes me how challenges bring out such a variety of good stories.
I have to admit though, I've also been on a Musketeers kick again. It started when I was reading a story from the Musketeers big bang and just spiralled. I don't think I mentioned but I got a new Kindle fire for Christmas, and being able to easily look for and read fic out and about, but mostly, in the bath has been fantastic. It was a spiral that led me to some excellent h/c that hit me just right, apart from the slight ooc'ness going on. But hey, sometimes when you get in those spirals slight ooc'ness doesn't really matter. Though the crying did get a bit much at times.
Corey went back to Newcastle yesterday. Last week he arrived carrying his backpack and laptop, and yesterday went back with those, a huge stacker box filled with various things and books, a big Ikea bag filled with presents -- a lot of which was rum, and we also stopped off at Ikea so he could buy a bookcase, and Asda as he said he had no food in his house. So somehow we had to shoehorn in six bags of groceries as well as a few boxes of drink.
We're also going back today to take his computer chair and a clothes airer he keeps forgetting to take back with him. Corey's hosting a NYE houseparty with his house mates at the weekend, and I feel for his neighbours. James is also at work NYE and he's told Corey he won't be impressed if he sees any ambulances being dispatched to his address. So he'll be kept an eye on, sort of anyway.
Today I'm going to Metro Center with James to hit the cinema. Maybe spend some of my Christmas money, too. I desperately need new trousers, but I must slap my own hand if I even think about buying more dresses.
Before I go,
harriet_vane, who I'm sure a lot of you will remember from bandom, is hosting a fic gifting exchange. Multi fandom, and you can check it out here.

Date: 2016-12-29 12:12 pm (UTC)When Musketeers fic hits the spot, it hits the spot. Even with crying, ahahaha.
Hee! Corey and all his returning stuff amuses me. Although he sounds like my Mom. She can't resist buying stuff when we travel, and then she has to switch cars for the ride home and realizes just how much stuff she bought!
Have fun at the cinema!

Date: 2016-12-30 06:18 pm (UTC)It does! But really, they need to ease off the crying already.
I was amazed just how much stuff Corey took back. It's good he's skinny because the boot and back seat was crammed. At least he had to stick to the same car *g*
Well, I sort of did. The movie was a bit of a let down.

Date: 2016-12-29 06:47 pm (UTC)I completely disagree, OOCness always matter :-P
It sounds like Corey's had a very profitable holiday. Hopefully their NYE party will be a very quiet success.
I hope you found some nice trousers and enjoyed yourself at the cinema!

It was very profitable for him. He was also generous in return. Which was lovely of him, but I'm not used to him spending so much money on us.
I did get some trousers and two new dresses

Date: 2016-12-31 06:18 pm (UTC)I won a Kindle Fire just before christmas, and I LOVE it (more now that I've managed to side load a decent twitter app and a more up to date tumblr app) - I've admittedly been using it mostly for netflix right enough, but that was useful for preventing people being people over Christmas ;).
Dresses are SO AWESOME though, and they continue to be at least decent, if not fit properly for some time, in a way trousers may not.

Date: 2016-12-31 09:06 pm (UTC)Ah, Netflix! I've got an account for that and it never occurred to me I could use my Fire to watch. I must investigate that. Also, that's excellent you won a Fire. What a great prize.
Yeah, that's my thinking. My trousers keep slipping down, while the dresses in bigger sizes still look fine, if a bit baggy for some of them. Plus, the Hells Bunny ones can easily be taken in at the sides when needed. Not by me though, sewing is not my thing!
