turpsWe're going late night shopping soon. The Christmas lights are getting switched on and Santa will be there! I'm determined to enjoy this Christmas as I suspect it'll be the last time that Corey believes. Of course what he doesn't understand is that Santa really is real. If he isn't who brings the perfume, teddy bear, nighty and box of knickers that I get every year? And the CDs and DVDs and other cool thing? Just tell me that! I write a list and there they are on Christmas morning. Because Santa brought them! Of course he slips up sometimes. I've asked for Brennan for the last two years and he keeps forgetting him...sigh. Last year he left me a note with some excuse that Bren was powering the sleigh after the battery kept draining. But I was on to him then because everyone knows that Reindeers pull the sleigh.
So yeah, we're off to battle the crowds and I'll get pissed because I hate crowds with a passion but then we'll get outside and see all the lights lit up against the night sky and all the children will be just looking and it's times like that I know that Christmas can be more than an over commercialised nightmare.
I've just spent the last ten minutes trying to unjam the freezer drawer. The fact it's jammed is totally my fault as I may have kicked it last time I was closing the door. It looks like one of the frozen fish tails have got stuck and I'm not touching them to get it out. Stupid fish. We should have just thrown them away as no-one likes fish, at least not when it looks like that. How are you supposed to eat fish when twenty of its distant relatives are looking at you from the tank? I might as well dip in my hand and fry Buffy and Angel.
The ten most unpopular fannish opinions makes me lol. I've read and agreed with a lot of them and have made a short list even though everything I rant about in fandom I say here anyway, if something pisses me off I post about it. I don't mention names ( that's what I have Castalie for *g* ) because I hate confrontation but trends are fair game. I like reading and talking about opinion other than my own. I don't get bent out of shape if someone doesn't like one of my guys or the types of story I like. However to qualify that I don't mind if someone writes something like, I don't enjoy kink because....but I'd be pissed if it was phrased kink sucks and so do you for liking it. That's not cool at all.
I've had some awesome e-mails conversations with someone who's on totally the opposite fence to me in MX. She's a total Jesse fan, I'm not. But we respect one another and I enjoy listening to what she says. I guess what it comes down to isI'm right all the time and anyone that doesn't agree with me is an idiot I don't expect everyone to like what I do. I wouldn't expect people to. I don't like everything you all like and that's good. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.
They're mostly for TS because that's the fandom I'm most familiar with.
(1) There's no such thing as Guide ( capital G ) Guide is fanon, *once* it was mentioned that Blair was Jim's guide, one throwaway mention by Brackett. There's no huge mystical connection between them. There's something there as shown when Jim brings Blair back to life, but the whole Sentinel Guide bond is wrong. It's fanon. A really cool concept that I enjoy reading but in most stories it should be labelled AU.
(2) There are more pairings in TS than J/B. Really there are. J/B may be your OTP but it doesn't mean it's mine. I like B/O, sorry and all that.
(3) Fanon. Some of it drives me insane. Show me where it says the lofts water tank is small or Jim has 8978748 house rules.
(4) I don't give a damn if Blair's hair is short or long.
(5) Smarm. I've talked this through with a lot of people but I still say smarm should be labelled slash and be done with it.
(6) There were faults on both sides in TSbyBS and Sentoo. They're two grown men, they make mistakes, neither are a devil, neither an angel.
(7) RPS is no better or worse than media slash and I refuse to feel bad about writing rps. I'm still the same person I was before I wrote rps than I was after. I didn't change into one of Satan's minions.
Now I'm going to get ready to see Santa!
