Snowflake challenge day 5
Jan. 5th, 2017 04:05 pmI kept saying I was going to do recs for bandom holidays, then I was too late to do so before the reveal, so decided not to. But then today the Snowflake challenge is to do some recs, so I've decided to go ahead.
First, before I do go ahead, I have to say there wasn't a story at the challenge that I didn't enjoy. But, I did have some favourite which were:
Tighten The Rope Around My Heart. Frank/Gerard, Frank/Jamia.
Loving someone means being willing to explore new things with them. Even if the new things aren't so new to you.
What I enjoyed most about this was how Frank didn't settle immediately into loving the rope kink. They had to communicate about likes and dislikes, and things weren't perfect at first. But at the heart of things was love, respect and trust, and I loved that. Also, loved this Jamia.
Soon the Bells Will Start which was written for me and as such every word is perfection!
Mikey has a slight melodramatic crisis in the middle of the night, Gerard has a herd of capsized sparkly reindeer in his hallway, Frank has five minutes to apologize, and Pete's got a brilliant solution to all this nonsense.
For a more serious rec, this really is a good story. Gerard and Mikey's relationship is fantastic -- and I'm sure you all know how much I enjoy that. The dialogue and little details were spot on, and of course the ending so satisfying. I was sad when I reached the end, and that's always the sign of a good story.
Frankly Perfect Frank/Gerard
Of all the things Gerard ever expected to come out of starting a band, Frank running a dating agency is maybe the last thing that would have occurred to him.
Which just goes to show how much he knows.
I love that this story isn't an AU. It could have so easily become one, but instead it's this fun, enjoyable story stuffed with things that will make you smile, and be frustrated and wanting Frank to catch a clue already. Also, some very vivid descriptions that were very nice to think about!
Falling For You. Frank/Gerard.
Frank notices Gerard has a lovely pair of transparent wings.
This is a fan comic, and it's fabulous! The fierce!Mikey panel makes me grin each time I see it.
What if a Frog-Eating Gnu Gets Him?
Gerard is not going to start worrying yet, he's not officially allowed to for another four hours, he's just going to hang out here unobtrusively watching... It's not creepy, and neither is the underwear thing.
This is funny, stuffed full of splendid things, written very well, and made me laugh throughout. It's just one of those stories you really should read, because it's just so much fun, and I'll never forget MCR and the Bake Off tent, and of course, the squirrel!
And two Musketeers I've enjoyed recently.
of things despaired of
Where Athos falls off a cliff and Aramis won't let go.

This series. It's Constance/Aramis/Athos/Porthos/d'Artagnan, so much sex in so many ways, h/c, kinks, friendship, Constance being awesome. It kept me enthralled for a long time. The only thing is, the second story was leading up to double penetration which should have been told in the last chapter which has never been posted. I mean, the story itself is finished plot wise, but that was a tease!

Date: 2017-01-05 07:59 pm (UTC)Tighten was actually a difficult story for me to write; I was plagued by creative block for a while, then I was stressed over the holidays, and etc. Added to that was the fact that the original draft wasn't right, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong...
So when people say they enjoyed the story, I'm very, very happy. <3

Date: 2017-01-06 08:07 am (UTC)This is why I love challenges like bandom holidays so much, because I get to read such a wide variety of fic in terms of genres and pairings.
Yours really spoke to me, and the reason was because things weren't perfect.

I am so happy that people like my daftly-pretenced story :D.
