Feb. 4th, 2017 02:13 pmYesterday Kayleigh posted she was engaged on FB, and of course it's caused a hit of hassle. Not that she's engaged, Shauna is lovely, or that it happened 3 weeks ago, but that they'd announced on FB without telling either of their families. Really, they should have told their parents first at least.
James got his new wheelchair, you can see him in it here. It's so lovely, which may sound a weird thing to say about a wheelchair, but after pushing his old one for so long this one is like a sports model in comparison. It has wheels that pop off, making it easy to get in the boot of the car, is comfortable with material that doesn't make you sweat on the back if you're sitting in it a long time, and pushes so easily. While there we also arranged for his mam to be contacted about her wheelchair. Because she's a bigger lady they gave her one where the seat is a block of wood, which of course isn't comfortable. The wheelchair tech said they hadn't given those kinds out for 15 years and the new kinds are so much better, so hopefully she'll get something that's actually comfortable asap.
Some of you may remember me posting a while back how one of my goals was to sit in the chairs outside a cafe on the beach-front. I never did as they were too small for me with having metal unmovable arms, but yesterday while at the beach I decided to try, and I did it.
Yesterday I also went for a bra fitting. Which was pretty scary thinking about going in, but was totally fine. The lady was so friendly and matter of fact as she measured and then fitted me, and it turns out I've gone down a size in terms of band and four sizes in cup size, so no wonder my old bras didn't fit well. So I left wearing the new bra, and it's very comfortable while being supportive.
Today I had a hair cut and have had a few inches of hair chopped off. It looks so much better.
In fannish news. I got my picfor1000 assignment which you can see here. I've got a vague idea taking shape. Now I just have to hope that forms into an actual story.
Finally,
sperrywink your other parcel came. Thank you! It's now put aside for a while ♥

Date: 2017-02-04 03:32 pm (UTC)I was thrilled when I sat in the chair. At the end of the month James has an appointment with the surgeon who looks after his hands and arms. He also has a waiting room with the worst chairs ever. When James broke his arm a few years ago I spent hours trying to wedge myself into those chairs, and one of my most humiliating moments came when I just couldn't stand trying any more, so stood, and a nurse brought me an armless chair from elsewhere. Which was lovely of her, but the whole waiting room saw her doing so and knew why. If I go to that appointment and fit in them it'll be another thing crossed off my list.
Though I may not be able to take a photo in there *g*

Date: 2017-02-05 09:06 am (UTC)It is! And it's so comfortable for him, too. Which is good as his back has been playing up big time so I suspect he'll be using it a lot more than he has for a while.
You're the best, thank you. And for commenting both here and Insta ♥

Date: 2017-02-04 08:59 pm (UTC)A well-fitting bra makes all the difference. And your hair looks super cute.
May the words flow easily.

Date: 2017-02-05 09:03 am (UTC)And thank you for the chair comments, for both of us.
It does! It was surprising just how much was pulled into place with a well fitting bra. It was more expensive than I usually buy, but worth it.
Thank you. I'm going to try for some writing later. Hopefully that idea will actually form into something concrete.

Date: 2017-02-11 04:16 pm (UTC)Believe me, I was freaking out going in for the fitting. But the lady was so matter of fact that it quickly became a non-issue. It also helped she mentioned another gastric bypass customer who went there, so I knew she'd have seen all sorts of bodies before.

Date: 2017-02-08 07:30 pm (UTC)Ditto to James for his new chair!
And to you for conquering the cafe chair!! (Such a great photo - you look so happy and triumphant.)
And again to getting a bra that fits!
You're looking great in your new hair!
That's a very interesting photo. Even I can imagine all sorts of things. Good luck with your story! I suppose it will be about Way bros as usual :-)

Date: 2017-02-11 04:20 pm (UTC)James loves his chair. We've taken it out for the first time since I posted this and it pushes so easily, and it's getting quicker every time popping off the wheels to stow it in the boot.
I was thrilled when I sat in that chair. Now it just needs to warm up so I can sit there and relax to the sound of the waves.
And thank you for the compliment :)
It will be Way bros centric, yep. I actually got a good start but this week has been so busy I haven't looked at the file in a while. But I plan to change that tonight.
