You must like to spank or be spanked, because your
romance is remeniscent of Secretary. A truly
modern love story, it shows that you don't need
to be conventional to be normal. You're
probably the type that owns a whole lot more
leather than what's upholstering your car or
sofa. Yeah, you know what I mean.
What Romance Movie Best Represents Your Love Life?

Snerk!! They know me so well ;)
What fandom did you get into that you were absolutely and positively sure, you were never going to get into, but you did.
That one's easy, popslash.
What made you think you would never get into it? What tipped you into it?
I've never been against rps, just didn't want the hassle of being in the fandom. I've seen too many arguments on mailing lists about how evil it is, so it was just as easy not to bother. Plus I'd tried to find some good slash bsb fic online before and failed miserably. All I could find was at FFNet and that left a lot to be desired. I was tipped into it slowly. You don't want to know how many mails I had with Mouse saying I was thinking about looking seriously for popslash. Or how long it took me to put it in my user info. It seemed a big jump actually saying outloud what I liked. Though it wasn't so much admitting that I like rps but boybands *g* Then one day I sort of had a brain storm and wrote a bsb K/H and some people actually liked it. After that it was a slippery slope as I found BSB/NSYNC cross overs, fell in lust with Chris, read pure nsync slash and ended up where I am now. And I couldn't be happier.
Did you start to write/vid/archive/dub/(fill in fannish creative activity) in that fandom? Do you still?
Yeah. I write, or at least try to ;) And had to create a rps offshoot to my main site as my server doesn't allow rps content.
Have you ever pimped someone into a fandom without trying? Which fandom, and what did it?
Yes. Josh is my pimpee *g* It's so much fun sharing the nsync love with him. Though the bsb love is coming slower. Mouse reads what I write for MX and popslash but isn't really in the fandoms, she's just a sweetheart that encourages me with everything I do. However, she does know all the sdb names now lol.
Do you have a fandom where you do not read the fic? Why not?
I suppose QAF. Every time I try to read fic for the show it doesn't hit me. I've no idea why, maybe I just haven't found the right stories.

(2) SupportLJ has seen me through some tough times. I don't talk that much in RL. I'm the oldest sibling, a mam and I have to be the strong one. I've poured out how I feel in here so many times and not once have you let me down. You give hugs and advice, make me lol when all I want to do is crawl into a corner and cry. Some people have shared incredibly personal stuff and that's so awesome. My LJ is a place I know I can vent and knowing that it's here is great.
(3) KnowledgeI've learned so much on LJ. I love reading about other countries. One entry on the flist might have someone in the boiling sun, the next in the snow. And sometimes I just sit and think how amazing that is. That I can send a comment to someone sitting in Australia then one to someone is the US. Things I see on TV seem more real now when I see them through the eyes of people experiencing them.
(4) FaithLJ restores my faith in people. When I see communities set up for swag swaps, and addies collected for cards etc I feel good that generosity is still alive. And that's not just material things. Icons, links, advice is all shared. Once I posted for a picture I wanted and within an hour I had it and a lot more too, that's just WOW you guys. Then the people that offer to do things like beta, a horrific job IMO but still they offer. My first stories for popslash were bad, but people still put in time and effort to help, and continue to do so.

I saw this idea on <lj site="livejournal.com" user="dolimir">'s LJ and thought it was a great idea. Things I'm thankful for in LJ. You'll probably want to hurl from the sappiness of it, but I mean every word.

Yet slowly I started to comment and people would comment to me and I learned how fantastic people on LJ can be. Every time one of you reaches out to me I feel that little bit better.

(5) <FandomOf course LJ brought me to the sparkly side. Which may be a bad thing to some people but I've found my inner teen and I love it! Reading entries for popslash people could think it's all about the squee and of course a lot is, but I've been privileged to read some thought provoking posts about music/pop culture that make me rethink my ideas. I also keep up with people from The Sentinel and Mutant X here. It can be difficult juggling all the fandoms but knowing I can post and people from all my fandoms can see it is so cool.
(6) Sentinel Thursday. Castalie and I had never done anything like running a community before, and at times we still scrape by. But people joined and wrote and commented and that makes me so proud. We wanted a place that didn't have a slash or gen label, we accept and encourage every genre and think we've achieved that. I hope so anyway. It may be egotistical to be so proud of your own community, but I am and I'm incredibly proud of every person that contributes there.
(7) Writing The writers on LJ are fantastic. I know it's confusing at first. You have to find the writers but once you do there's some incredible stuff posted on LJ. There's also recs to stories that normally I'd never think of reading. I can be reading a LJ and see someone post about this fantastic story but it's in a fandom I don't know, but I'll try it anyway, and mostly I'm glad that I did.
(8) Flist I've said it once but again LJ is all about the people in it. I know some of you much better than others. Some of you I class amongst my closest friends, others I may only comment once in a blue moon, but I read every entry on my friends list and want to thank you all for allowing me to do so. You're awesome. All of you.
*hugs everyone on flist tight*

Date: 2003-11-21 02:53 pm (UTC)That's SO Awesome!
And Yes, LJ is awesome, too.
It's definitely opened some doors for me, and I've had ever so much fun becoming actively involved in fandoms. Thank You so much, Terri, -and Jen, she gave me my code!- for helping me become a part of this experience. And thanks to castalie & Nico & everybody else, too. I love it here.
And Terri, I _have_ liked some of BSB's songs in the past, never knew which ones were them & which were *Nsync... ..still don't in a lot of cases, lol...
