James has gone back to work today. Only on short shifts at the moment, he'll be finished by 2, and due to an existing schedule he's actually on his rota'ed days off from tomorrow so won't be back in until Sun. But, it's a start back to normalcy.

Things have been busy but without anything that actually stands out.

We had a double cinema day and went to see Power Rangers and the new Fast and Furious, and I liked them both. We went to a smaller Odeon than our usual and ended up sitting in the same seats in the same screen for both. Though for the second the person behind decided to hang their coat on the back of my seat which was annoying.

I have tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 for Saturday, and can't wait for that.

I went to the dentist about my missing cap, but sadly it's impossible to just scrape off the left over cement. So I'll be getting a new cap in the future, and also apparently two fillings need doing. Despite it being an NHS dentist I still need to pay the top band for the work, which is £350, which is a lot when my teeth don't actually hurt, but compared to what some have to pay, I know is a bargain. Especially as no matter what work is done they can't go above that figure, and despite the cost and faff, I know in the long run getting the new cap is the right thing to do. They also suggested some teeth bleaching, but as that would be an extra £200 on top, nope.

Easter was pretty much a non-event apart from delivering eggs and chocolate to my nieces, nephews and Corey. It didn't help that the weather was so bad. It actually hail stoned yesterday.

I have no concrete plans until I'm going to see mam in a few hours. So I'm going to potter, and do some house stuff, maybe take a walk and continue catching up online. I've also the last few eps of This Is Us to watch, but I don't want that to end so am stretching that out atm.

One small fannish thing. Bandom people, I hope you know lady_smutterella regularly lists the fills for the bandom bingo on their journal. They're worth checking out.

Eta: sadness. Just realised Guardians is next Sat not this one :(

Guardians of the Galaxy! Yay! I have no idea if and when I'll get to see that, but hopefully I will. :)

Glad you're getting your tooth fixed! It's probably a good idea in the long run. It does seem baffling to me (and it's the same here) how even when it goes through the healthcare system that it's so expensive! Nothing else seems to come close to that.

I loved the first movie, so hope I'll love this one just as much. Hopefully you'll get to see it asap.

Yeah, it is a good idea in the long run, it just feels weird to be spending so much money when it feels like there's no actual need.

Having free hospital appointments, doctors etc has spoilt me in terms of paying for healthcare. I'm just glad I'm getting some discount, or else I'd be on the floor in a faint with the actual cost.

Oh for sure, having free healthcare in general is amazing, I just don't understand why dental isn't considered more of a part of it. I mean, if your teeth get really bad (not yours in particular; in general), it can actually kill you. How is that something that still costs so much? I know I for sure avoided dental work when I was unemployed because I still couldn't afford it.

Excellent news that James is well enough to go back to work! I'm really glad they're letting him ease back into it. The worst thing would be having to do long shifts straight away.

I just realised how behind I've gotten over the last couple of weeks, so I'm also glad that your Mam is doing much better and that your nan is feeling so well at the moment, despite the stomach ~thing~.

I'm looking forward to Guardians so much. I feel right in the mood for some humorous superheros atm!

He was glad to get back, too. It's such a good sign his health, both mental and physical is on the way up. He's been put on five hour days for the next two weeks, then five and a half for another week, then eight for a week before back to normal, with no nights yet. So they've been really good about the easing in.

Oh, I'm horribly behind too. I've just had a mega catch up session, because I'm nosy and want to know what's been happening in people's lives. Mam's doing much better, and as for nanna. She's doing great. Whatever the thing is in her stomach it's not doing her any actual harm.

Yeah, that's how I feel about Guardian's too. I liked Logan but it was such a downer movie. I want fun and laughter and action. I think Guardians will provide all that.

I still haven't actually seen Logan. I meant to see it at the cinema and then suddenly it was no longer on and I was still just MEANING to see it. Oh well, it'll be out on DVD soon enough!

I'm so happy for James that he can go back to work. I know how it feels, and it does boost one's confidence.

Guardians of the Galaxy!! So jealous! The earliest I will be able to see it is mid-May, probably. Oh, no! Finally noticed your ETA!! Waiting sucks. >:-(

OMG, teeth, why so difficult???? Good luck getting it together. But yeah, you don't want it breaking or crumbling if it is weak now.

He's so happy to be back at work. He's had his back to work meeting today and again they've been great. Because his condition will eventually get worse they've also been discussing early retirement due to medical reasons. But that shouldn't happen for decades yet, hopefully.

I was so sad I got the date for Guardian's wrong. I still don't know how I got so ahead of myself.

The tooth is thankfully close to being done. It just needs the final cap put on next week. Then there's just the cost to deal with. Sigh.

I don't get that either. From comments from you and Adelate it seems quite a few places don't class dental along with free health care, and I really don't understand why.

Glad things are looking up for James, and also your Mum. Guardians of the Galaxy sounds great, I loved the first one! I get migraines from the cinema so have to wait for the DVDs but have just watched both Ghostbusters and Fantastic Beats and loved both.

Sorry for your bad weather, we've actually had some sun so Easter was good for gardening!

That's a shame that you get migranes from the cinema, but I can understand why. It does get very noisy at times.

That's great that James is able to go back to work. I hope he'll be able to get back into a good routine. And I wish you as smooth and painless a time as possible at the dentist! That does sound like something that would be better taken care of before it gets bad enough to really bother you.

James' back to work is going very smoothly just now. He really is lucky with his bosses, both immediate and the head types.

It's my first tooth cap fitting in a few days. Fingers crossed it'll go well.

Yeah, I get the irony, too.

To me those stats represent why I'm still hanging on at LJ. I do know they're being shady, and I know I should really cut them loose, but the thing is, LJ has a huge part of my life documented on it, and not just my posts. I like commenting to people, and have years worth of comment conversations. I'm still friended to people who moved on years ago, but I have fond memories of them. I've even got two people who have passed on, and it doesn't feel right to remove them in any way, because they're part of my past.

Guess I'll just keep chuntering on wherever anyone will listen *g*
