Dec. 18th, 2018 09:28 amThank you
nopseud,
romantical and
solariana for the gorgeous cards. And I forgot to say on here but I got a splendid card, complete with four naughty cats, and a gift from
turlough the other day. I love this time of year, the post is so glittery and sparkly.
Yesterday James surprised me with tickets to the pantomime tonight. I have to admit I was a bit grinchy faced when he first said as today is the only free day we've got to finish gift shopping and I was intending to go see the new animated Spiderman. But, I'm looking forward to it now, and we should still be able to go shopping, just things will be a bit rushed. But not so much a cinema visit can't be shoved in I'm sure. I was trying to think when the last time I saw a pantomime was, and realised I've never actually seen a professionally staged one. So it should be an experience, though I do hope we're not the only ones there without an accompanied small child. This will probably only mean something to people of a certain age from the UK but the star is Dick from Dick and Dom fame, though apparently, he likes to be called Richard now. Many yells of bogies are inevitable I suspect.
In not-so-good news. I learned last night that a man who lived two doors away from mam had died. Mam lived in a block of three houses, and in the space of 6 months, someone has died in each of them. It was Kayleigh who told me and she mentioned I should think about moving as the death curse was moving down toward my house -- I live on the same estate as mam, literally a one-minute straight walk from hers. A bleak joke for sure, but sometimes it's all you can do.
Hearing about the death knocked me last night as Stuart was the same age as me. We were in the same form class at school and he was a casual friend of my brother, and of course, living so close meant I saw him go past my house most days. He was a larger than life personality with the loudest voice ever. He used to yell good morning to mam from two houses away and be easily heard. He lived with his dad and I ache for him, especially as he had to make the decision to turn off the machines. I can't even comprehend how hard that must be.
Now though, I must wake James up, get him ready and go brave the shops. Those gift cards won't buy themselves.

Date: 2018-12-18 10:29 am (UTC)Hope you have fun! I’ve not been to a panto in ages, I think the last one was Aladdin though I suspect there was another. I missed out on Dick and Dom. But yeah. Have fun! And if you see Spider-Man let me know how it is, I’ve heard good things
Oh no, that sounds so awful.

Date: 2018-12-28 11:25 am (UTC)I suspect you're too young to have known Dick and Dom. Probably just as well. I still haven't seen Spiderman, though. However, all of my friends who have loved it. So it sounds promising.

Date: 2018-12-28 11:26 am (UTC)I feel horrible for his dad. Left alone in that house and I'm sure he'll be blaming himself :(

We did have a good time, but man, it felt like we didn't stop moving from one thing to another for a while.

Date: 2018-12-19 09:29 pm (UTC)I hope you'd lots of fun at the panto yesterday! I've always wanted to see one even though I'm sure I wouldn't understand half of it. It's such a thoroughly English thing!
That's so sad. It much be so awful for his family.

Date: 2018-12-22 11:36 am (UTC)The panto was fun, much more than I expected tbh. It was such a lovely atmosphere, and I'd go back again for sure next year. But yeah, it is very English. I'd imagine quite a few things wouldn't make sense.
It is sad. I feel horrible for his dad who's been left alone in the house.

Date: 2018-12-20 09:33 pm (UTC)I'm sorry about your neighbor's passing. It must have been quite shocking to hear about it. <3
Also, yes, Into the Spiderverse is one of the v. few movies I am reccing to everyone everywhere. Saw it last Friday when it premiered over here and will be seeing it again tomorrow (after finding out that I had a v. neat credit that meant a ticket to the fancy theater would come about $4 (instead of the usual $16).)

Date: 2018-12-22 11:43 am (UTC)It was a shock. It feels extra shocking somehow when it's someone your own age.
Everyone I've seen who've seen Into the Spiderverse has enjoyed it. We didn't get to see it the other day, just ran out of time, and won't have time to go to the cinema again until next weekend. I really hope it's still on then. And score about the credit. That's fantastic.
