In the last week I've been to the meal for James' birthday. It was good but Shauna, Kayleigh's girlfriend, couldn't come as she's a manager of a shop and obviously run off her feet atm, and Kay herself was dealing with new med side-affects, so while it was a lovely evening it was pretty low-key and chill. Which is probably what we all needed, really.
My MiL and FiL came earlier that day and we had a good time with them. I roasted chestnuts, made a nice dinner, served cake and many coffees, and again, it was a good chilled out time. The only problem being my MiL gets so frustrated at her terrible mobility. She's in the situation where she's piling on weight as she can't walk well at all so needs a heavy duty wheelchair so gets embarrassed at anyone having to push her. As we can't get our car to our door she's got no choice but to be pushed to the house and we spent a lot of time reassuring her that pushing her wasn't a thing. I do wish she'd come visit more, but understand why she won't even though she has a nice time every time she's here.
The pantomime was so great! I'm so glad I agreed to go as it was funny and I really enjoyed seeing the reaction of the children that were sitting around us. They were so into what was happening on stage and by the end I felt I could believe in fairies, too. Plus, they had a harness and rig thing that meant that Peter Pan could fly right up into the top balcony, and seeing him up there, glitter trailing behind him was a wow moment.
My bandom holidays story is finished and getting beta read. It's already been read over once so I know all it needs is a few typo corrections so I'll be done well in time. So that can be 90% checked off my list too.
I don't know if someone has been mentioning my stories somewhere but I've been getting some incredibly lovely comments lately. One of the favourite being someone overjoyed they'd found a particular story again as they'd been searching for ages and apparently Googling 'Ryan strung up on a billboard' didn't bring any answers. Which really, such a fail, Google!
I braved Asda for the last grocery shop yesterday. I was dreading it as the crowds at the shops had been building up day by day, but in the end it was fine. I caught the bus exactly, was at the shopping place in fifteen minutes and managed to buy some needed presents and then sat having a coffee at Costa while James finished work and met me at Asda. Then as we were close we decided to call in The Company Shop on the way home. That's the shop for NHS workers that sells off surplice food incredibly cheap. They'd obviously had truck loads of some things come in as they were giving away big family packs of bananas and selling turkey breast meat from Waitrose at 10p a packet. We also got a turkey crown at half the labelled price. I've never actually shopped in a Waitrose, for two reasons, one there isn't one close and two, we couldn't afford to. But now because of Company I'm getting quite a taste for their food.
Today I need to wrap the last of the presents and tidy the house as Corey is coming home with James after work. Maybe a cheeky nap as I had a bad nights sleep last night. Though I don't really nap at all, so I suspect coffee will have to do it. Some online catching up, too. But first, present wrapping, and a quick walk to Lidl as despite all that shopping we forgot the lettuce.

Date: 2018-12-23 10:49 am (UTC)Cake is good! It sounds like you get on with them which is good, not many people seem to get on with their in laws. That’s a shame a shame she feels embarrassed about being pushed though.
That’s awesome! I haven’t been to a panto in ages but they’re always so funny
Yay! I’m glad your bandom holidays is done! I’ll be sure to read it!
I love when that happens! I have to have a read through some of yours some more too! 💜
That’s good! I’m glad that it wasn’t too busy and you got everything sorted out. Wrapping is the last Christmas thing I did too. (And strangely ai had to get some more lettuce yesterday too)
Hope you have a nice Christmas! And thanks so much for the card 💜 (you might find a little thing too when you do your online catch up;))

Date: 2018-12-23 05:24 pm (UTC)My in-laws are lovely. Loud at times, but lovely. I get on with them really well. I just wish they could come out with us more often, but it's such a production for them to go anywhere they don't tend to go further than my SiLs house, where they can get a taxi to the doorstep.
The panto really was great. They're already advertising for Cinderella next year. I suspect we'll be going.
Thank you, and thank you for the hint of a little thing. My brother decided to call over and I've been wrapping and tidying most of the day so haven't done any online checking yet. But I will soon.

Date: 2018-12-23 05:57 pm (UTC)Aww that’s good! It’s a shame they don’t visit much though
Nice! The last one I went to was,,, err, I remember seeing Aladdin with John Barrowman and then there was another but I’ve forgot it oops.
That’s ok! I’ve got all my wrapping done thankfully so I’ve just snuggled and watched Enterprise and Tomb Raider

Date: 2018-12-23 12:47 pm (UTC)It's SO nice when you get a wee run of kudos or comments on older fic, lovely lovely (I've been listening to Tints verse a LOT recently, it quiets my brain so nicely).
ooh - the company shop sounds lovely! Does James have a Blue Light card? I'd think he's entitled to one and even though it's £5 for 4 years it does have some cracking discounts that get it to pay for itself super quickly.

Date: 2018-12-23 03:51 pm (UTC)Ah, thank you for that. I'm not sure what's prompted these latest comments, but I'm very much enjoying them.
James does have a Blue Light card, but only got it in the last month or so. He eventually looked into it when he realised he got a discount at Starbucks. Considering he calls there for a coffee every morning before work those discounts soon add up.

Date: 2018-12-23 08:40 pm (UTC)Congratulations to having finished your story!
This is why I always try to comment when I read an older story! (But yes, total fail Google!)
I'm glad yesterday's shopping expedition went well.
I hope the present wrapping went well and that the trip to Lidl wasn't too horrifying :-)

Date: 2018-12-27 04:14 pm (UTC)Thank you. I'm pleased the story is done, and yeah, that's why I like leaving comments too. I know some people prefer getting kudos but to me comments are gold.
The trip to Lidl wasn't that bad. It's handy having it so close. Christmas eve I could look over at the car park and watch the grid locks. That's always entertaining.

Date: 2018-12-23 08:50 pm (UTC)Yays for enjoying the panto show. If I ever got to the UK, I will have to attend one as that's one of those things that I deeply associate with UK culture, LOL.
Kudos to you for finishing your Bandom Holidays fic! I am more than sure that your recipient will dig it a lot. ;)
Isn't the best when you wake up to a flurry of kudos and/or comments?

Date: 2018-12-27 04:09 pm (UTC)Yeah, I agree. Low key is good when you just want to chill and talk. Or even not talk, but are with people who understand that every moment doesn't need to be filled with sound.
Well, if you do come visit I hope you do get to see a panto, they really are something else. Looking at them from the outside they must look so strange, but it's just something that works.
Thank you! The story is done in terms of writing and editing. The problem is I'll probably spend another day thinking of a title.
It is! People are so lovely. Fans are the best ♥

Date: 2018-12-27 04:04 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed the comments, but it does always make me wonder if someone has been reccing. Or a few people decide to comment by coincidence. Whatever it is I was happy about it.
I did do it!
And yes, I did get the lettuce. Thank goodness!
