Snowflake Challenge Day 6 and 7

Day 6

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

These are pretty much the same as last year, but as my wishes haven't really changed that much.

(1) I'd love people to comment or leave kudos on fannish works. Not just mine, but anything you check out and enjoy. Honestly, getting any kind of response is great because it's horrible thinking you're posting into a void. I was sure there was a link that showed you works on A03 that don't have any comments or kudos but I can't find it atm. Hopefully someone will know what I mean and link.

(2) Say thank you to the mods of challenges and comms. It's a thankless job at times, and while I haven't been a mod of either for a while I well remember how it feels that at times, you're herding cats.

(3)Consider leaving a transformative works statement on your profiles. This is something Aka talked about a while back, and has a great post to explain more here

(4) And my change from last year. Winterhawk recs. H/c is my favourite genre but there's nothing I won't read. So if you've a Bucky/Clint or Bucky and Clint focussed story you enjoyed, hit me up.


Day 7

Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. Try working in a new medium. Or check out some fanworks that are new to you. (The recs from Day 2 might be a good place to start.) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I've actually sort of being doing this for fandom stocking, and in fact, as I realised there's still over a week to go before reveals I may try for more stockings. Though, technically what I've been writing isn't new. So probably shouldn't count. Which is why I started to think about my non-existent art skills, which reminded me of the stick art I created with sperrywink for our beloved mikeyway_daily. Which led to me looking for ages to find out when we posted that terrible amazing art and it was in 2010. What is time!? However, with photobucket going silly and my computer crashes the work doesn't exist now, which is sad. Unless Sperrywink still has a copy our genius will be lost to time Which is probably just as well

But, I've just had such a wonderful time looking through old posts.

However, back to the challenge. I will look for new to me pairings/fandoms to try out. Read for sure, write, maybe.

1: I agree with you on comments as you know. For the last few years I’ve kinda felt I was posting into the void. A lot of my stuff never got noticed as lj imploded and when I moved here it didn’t either. (As my fic round up post says, a few didn’t get commented on and that combined with everything else led me to stop writing last year). I’m glad to be back getting more comments from people, it’s great. (Although I do wish I could find someone that likes Bullet stuff)

I’ve been commenting more myself on ao3 too, I comment on everything I read now

2: I’ve thanked aka for bandom, as well as the snowflake mods at least once now. I agree such people need all the thanks

3: I’ve seen a few people mention this so I had a quick look (but I was waiting on food) I guess I’m someone who just doesn’t think anyone would care enough to do anything with my stuff. And after the trouble last year I’m not sure I’d want to collaborate with anyone or anything

4: I haven’t read any of this pairing, but I’ll keep my eyes open!

I guess you could say me even doing bandom-holidays was me stretching out too. Certainly the pinch hit was different to my usual stuff.

Now I’m curious about what those stick figures were! Damnit photobucket!

It's hard when you're posting into a void. I do actually believe you have to write for yourself, but at the same time, if you're posting it's always nice to get some kind of response. Hopefully you'll find someone who does like Bullets at some point. Surely you can't be the only one.

Thank yous are so lovely to receive and easy to give. I like thinking of the mods getting all the thanks, because they deserve it.

Well, you don't have to collaborate. I'm not a podfic listener so I'd never collaborate that way. But I'm more than happy to have a blanket permission for anyone to podfic my stories at any time. I never thought anyone would be interested in what I write either, but was surprised that wasn't the case. Especially for a Musketeers story I'd posted which I thought no one had noticed.

Ha, the stick figures have been posted down thread. Sperrywink is a better digital packrat than me it seems. Though whether they're worth making an effort to look at is another matter :D

That’s exactly what I think too! It always hurts a bit to see something go unappreciated, especially you work so hard on it and are happy with it. Thanks, I hope so too. Over the years I have managed to convert others into them (even got a few of them to write about them) but they’re all gone now (the big one being the friend I lost) and I just feel so... sad. It was hard enough finding those people, to find others.... seems unlikely (especially when I’m still fawning over a memeber that left two albums ago and even most regular fans don’t seem to care that much.)

Yeah they are, being a mod must be so hard especially for a big challenge, I don’t know if I could do it. (I certainly couldn’t do it alone I don’t think.)

I guess at might do one on the off chance, though I do doubt anyone would. That’s so cool that someone did that!
