Feb. 21st, 2019 08:55 amThank you to
romantical for the birthday card, you're the best. And thank you to everyone who posted birthday wishes/emails after my last post. I still need to reply to everything, but they were all appreciated loads ♥
Life has been busy, on my actual birthday we met Corey in Newcastle for dinner, then went to see WarHorse at the theatre, and staging and production wise it was stunning. But somehow I didn't actually like it. I'm sitting here trying to find the words to explain why it didn't work for me, but can't. It was just one of those things where something fell flat.
We've been to Mog on the Tyne, which I enjoyed but as it's half term atm the cafe was packed to capacity so we didn't have the usual relaxing visit. We were going to go to Dog and Scone but have decided to wait until next week as that was packed when we walked past, too.
I've been to dinner with the sibs, James and Kay's new girlfriend. She remains lovely and fitted in with us beautifully.
I finished watching Umbrella Academy last night, and man, that last ep was something else. I loved it loads, and will probably have more thoughts at a later point. But briefly, yeah, I loved it, but not everything.
Fresia was at the vet's yesterday. Her ear has healed but we got a breakdown for the costs of her tooth op and it's over £600 so goodbye summer holiday, it was nice thinking about you.
James had bought me clothes for the rest of his presents.
He made great choices, buying tops and a dress I really loved. But, while the tops fit they were too short. Because of my weight loss I have loose skin everywhere, but especially my stomach area. Which is why I'm not comfortable in tops that only go to hip level, which those did. Then the dress fitted beautifully around my upper area but not lower. So, those were changed for two dresses, which are slightly too big around my chest but fit nicely otherwise. Which I can cope with, but will need to sew the straps up shorter.
It was just a bit disappointing really, that I'll always have issues like this no matter how much weight I drop. But, when we went to the shop one of my favourite assistants was back after a spell at another shop. She hadn't seen me for over a year, so seeing her surprise helped bolster my confidence.
Still haven't read any no tags or added more to my h/c bingo mini-challenge, which is a shame as it was going nicely. Maybe tonight I'll do both as I'm heading out for the morning soon, and then off to the hospital to see my MiL.
I've posted some photos of the last few days on my Insta if anyone is interested.
And with that quick catchup, I must get ready to go out.

Date: 2019-02-21 11:46 am (UTC)Oh yeah I’d forgot it was half term, that can be annoying.
That’s good that you had a nice dinner!
Ah The Umbrella Academy! I have had so many feels as you’ll see when you read my rambles about it
Ouch, yeah by bills are the worst. I hope she’ll be ok
Aww that’s a shame the clothes weren’t right, but at least you could exchange them for something better. Getting clothes for someone can always be a tricky thing, that’s why I try not to
Good luck with them! I hope you get to read/write more soon. Hope she’s doing ok and your day goes well
I’m glad seeing her helped boost your confidence, nice people help a lot

Date: 2019-02-23 01:51 pm (UTC)It is, even now I couldn't say why I didn't enjoy it, I just didn't.
I don't mind kids at all, it's just when they're off places get so busy. Oh well, they're back soon and places should be a bit quieter.
Yeah, the exchange was easy, so no harm there. And it meant I got to talk to the lovely assistant so that was a plus.

That's good!

Date: 2019-02-22 05:31 am (UTC)It's also too bad James's initial choices of clothes didn't end up working for you. I hope the new dresses will wear well!

Date: 2019-02-23 09:00 pm (UTC)Ack! And I thought Lancecat's tooth removal ops were expensive. That really sucks about your summer holiday but yes, Fresia is much more important. After all, there will be a summer next year too.
How frustrating for you! And I can imagine it must have felt quite depressing too. It sounds like you now have two very nice dresses though so yay for that. And for the nice shopping assistant!

Date: 2019-02-24 02:25 pm (UTC)Yep, it is costly. But the vet was good and gave us a detailed break down of what would need doing and the cost involved for each thing. I think she's being extra thorough with Fresia being so old, which can only be a good thing. Plus, she didn't charge us for the follow-up visit, which was nice of her.
I do have two nice dresses, thisis one and the other is similar but with a purple pattern.

Date: 2019-02-24 03:53 pm (UTC)You know, everyone has "issues" where there are some clothes that are just never going to work on their bodies - it's one of the reason those shops that do tailoring and mending are still so prevalent in an age where people don't generally get things mended. <3 <3

That's very true. And at least now I'm pretty much stable in terms of sizes so altering things won't be wasting money. Now I just need to take my dresses to one of those places and get them done already.

Date: 2019-02-25 08:57 am (UTC)Shirt length is important. You have to be comfortable whatever you wear, which sadly rules out a lot of clothes for me. But, it is what is.
But...I like my head! And I want it to feel comfortable, so...yeah
Exactly! Your head is right.
