eglantiere is a star and has helped me with the h/c exchange sign-up process -- in which I mean she broke it down into little words which I could understand, so now I'm good to go. I've been nominating and will sign-up and then no doubt be on here wailing, what have I done!? When the assignments go out. Such is my challenge experience, it always happens that way, and then I always end up happy in the end.

Which brings me nicely to the h/c bingo mini challenge. I was happily content with myself and my progress when I realised that Feb was a short month and I didn't actually have nearly a week to finish up and get the thing beta read. I still have plenty of time to finish writing as it's nearly done but getting it beta read will be an issue as my usual beta will be busy at work.

It was my lymphedema appointment today. My plan was to get a taxi there, and as James was finishing work early, wait for him after and get a lift back. But when I phoned to book a taxi they had none, unless I wanted taking at 12 when my appointment wasn't until 2. So, I took the bus to the town, had a wander around the shops and had a coffee, then got a taxi the rest of the way from there. Then when I got there the lympth nurse said the hospice would have sent free transport for me if I'd asked, with a free journey there and back. Oh well, something to know for next time.

Not much to say about the appointment. Just a tiny loss of fluid in one leg and increase in the other. Which is to be expected as both compression garments are far too big now so don't actually give compression. But, he's put in a script for new ones and they should be here in a fortnight as they need to be specially made to measure. Then back again in three months.

There's always that scary moment with exchange challenges when you think, Noooooooooooo...! But I've found that I'm pretty proud of each and every SeSa story I've ever written. I'm sure you do likewise!

Yeah, I'm assuming most people get that Nooooooo reaction. But like you, I haven't had a negative challenge experience.

Thank you! Days like yesterday are nice when I've been stalled weight loss wise but I can remind myself I have come a long way health wise.

I’m glad they were able to help you, since it’s the perfect sounding challenge for you. (I have to admit I did think ‘what have I done’ for bandom holidays and no tags but they went pretty well)

I assume most people have thought of 'what have I done' when they join challenges. But I like to think most work out okay.

Thank you. I'm hoping to get it finished today, which leave a whole two days to get it beta-read and posted. Just about possible I think.

I've seen the mini busses before when I've been but thought they'd be for the actual hospice patients and not people just there for appointments. It's a shame I didn't know before as it would have saved some money, but at least I know now.

Oh, awesome. Excellent. I'll have to look out for that as strangely it's one of the mags out local newsagent actually stocks.

How frustrating they didn’t tell you this but at least you know for future :) glad the appointment went well though. Compression socks, urgh. I had to wear them after giving birth and even two weeks was too long (and one of my postnatal periods was during a heatwave!!) hope you get new ones sorted son x

It is good to know for the future, especially as the place is a pain to get to. Plus, apparently, it's dedicated transport for one person and not having to travel around for hours picking other people up.

I was first fitted for my compression socks in the autumn, so have only worn them when it was cool, so I'm hoping they're not too bad when it's hot. Saying that I always wear leggings, even under dresses. I'm thinking the socks will take the place of the leggings under a maxi dress.

But gah at wearing them in a heatwave with a newborn!

That’s really good - I used patient transport with my disabled dad before and a 30 minute journey took almost 4 hours with the route and picking up and dropping off!!
Yeah, sorry to say but they’re no fun in the heat :/ made my legs super itchy and sweaty :( heatwave was not a good time for me!! On the flip side my boy was born in the summer and I wore them then too and it was ok, just the annoyance of pulling the stupid things on!!

After only taking part in smallish challenges in one fandom, this multifandom totally AO3 one totally threw me.

She helped loads, because the sign-up process is scary. I nominated but now I need to actually sign-up, but I think I'll leave that until tomorrow as it looks complicated and you need a letter and just, gah!

So true. I'd seen the minibuses and cars when I've been there before but thought they were for in-patients and not just people there for appointments, but nope.
