Jul. 27th, 2019 03:51 pmThank you Camp Sparkle people for the card complete with messages. It's nice to know I was missed, and that the way I pronounce monkey is still a thing *g* I hope you all had the best time ♥
Like many other places, we've been hit with a heatwave. It was 30 in Durham a few days ago, which was just wrong. The days have been okay as I've been walking to get groceries first thing so have been back in the house well before the sun gets the hottest, but the nights have been stifling. Despite having fans going up and downstairs, the poor cats were flopping everywhere. In Pansy's case under the quilt that was hanging off Corey's bed. I guess she wanted some shade as all I saw when I looked in the room was one tabby leg sticking out.
Thankfully today has cooled loads, so much so it's been raining constantly since I woke up. Which is fine, the grey and coolness is a relief, but I'm sure I'll be complaining about it by tomorrow if it's still raining.
Along with James, I've been binge-watching season one of Stranger Things. We'll be moving onto the next season from tomorrow when he's off for a couple of days and not falling asleep on the couch as soon as he's home from work. It's fun so far, well, as fun as something so creepy can be, though not a show I'm tempted to be fannish about.
For my fannish fix I'm still reading winterhawk, and can't see that going away any time soon.
Also, the Picard trailer makes me so happy. I'm really looking forward to it, especially as Santiago Cabrera is part of the main cast. Plus, Seven!
As I wrote Umbrella Academy for my last h/c fill I want to do winterhawk next, so have just been looking at my card. Doing so I've realised I've picked an awkward first choice as now I only have a choice of two lines. Going up, hunger/starvation, wildcard, body/mindswap and therapy, or side to side, dystopia, bodyguards, exhaustion and forced body modification. I know forced body modification seems the obvious one. But, it's not speaking to me. I really should have picked a corner.

Date: 2019-07-27 02:56 pm (UTC)Noooo, forget forced body modification, all the *THERAPY* for WinterHawk!! It practically writes itself! *g*
They both need it after what they have been through.

Date: 2019-07-27 03:11 pm (UTC)That is very true. Brainwashed sniper bros in therapy. The potential for angst is endless.
Though, I have to admit, I'm tempted by body/mind swap. Which would also eventually lead to therapy if I wanted a line.
Of course, that means I'd have to actually stop the mindless surfing. Hey, at least I looked at the card *g*

Date: 2019-07-27 05:12 pm (UTC)Ugh yeah this heat has been maddening! I don’t like it and I’m glad it’s stopped today
I need to watch stranger things, I never have and keep seeing things about it
Yes! It looks awesome!

Date: 2019-07-27 06:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, it got to be too much. Especially so at night, I'm looking forward to going to bed without sweating tonight.
Stranger Things is good. Not what I expected going in, but it made me want to see more at the end of each ep.
Yes, yes it does! Just the trailer makes me happy.

Date: 2019-07-27 07:43 pm (UTC)Though typically the big airshow is on here this weekend. After sunny weather for ages all the cloud meant they couldn't fly anything today. Not that I was going, but I feel sorry for the organisers.

Date: 2019-07-27 07:32 pm (UTC)I was curious abt Stranger Things. However, the show started to get the kind of hype that rubbed me off the wrong way (me and my delicate hype backlash thing.)
Somehow, I ended up signing up for an AU Exchange, a Sam Wilson Big Bang, the Iddy Iddy Big Bang, and a Femdom Exchange. The first three are due Aug-Sept. so, like, don't worry if I disappear til October.
*Oh, and there's also Pod_together for which I'm recording a fic. I've also signed up for Marvel Ladies Bingo but the deadline for that one is July 2020, so that's not as ! as the rest.

Date: 2019-07-27 07:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, I heard a lot of people raving about Stranger Things, and yet, still wasn't sure what I was actually going to watch when I did so. Thankfully I enjoyed it, though it did help James liked it too as we could talk about it after. Hopefully, the next two seasons are as good as the first.
Oh wow, that is a lot of fic. Which is good in a way as it means you're putting lots of excellent fic into the world, but at the same time, those deadlines are close.
Write like the wind, Luce!
I'll miss seeing you around, but will be waiting to hear all about your stories when you're done.

Date: 2019-07-27 07:51 pm (UTC)Part of what makes me indifferent toward Stranger Things is that so much of it is based on nostalgia and I'm not a particularly nostalgic person. I've heard S2 is pretty solid and S3 definitely ups the ante.
My track record this year has been that I end up dropping out of of every other challenge/Big Bang/exchange because the deadlines have been wild. I'm crossing fingers that these last batch of things will break the mold. Most of the deadlines for them are sort of spread out. We shall see...
Thanks for the writing wishes and I say ditto to you!

Date: 2019-08-02 06:13 pm (UTC)I bet it's not.
I really feel for anyone that actually has to be out working in direct sun and heat. It was bad enough when I could stay indoors for the worst of it.

Well, more good luck then, and thanks for the good wishes. Though, I'm more playing around with short things atm. Maybe I'll be brave and actually join a challenge later in the year.

Date: 2019-08-02 05:34 am (UTC)We went from +33C to +13C in a few days. I'm enjoying the break from the heat, but WTF nature???

Date: 2019-08-02 06:10 pm (UTC)Ha, you're welcome! I'd say how long it took me to work out how to record and post, but I already felt daft enough. Let's just say it was a long time *g*
Yeah, wtf nature indeed. The weather has been all over the place for so many people lately.
