Aug. 1st, 2019 11:55 amI wasn't amused this morning when Milo woke me up by being sick on the bed. Right on the sheet and between me and James so it wasn't like I could easily take off the quilt cover and go back to sleep. I know it wasn't his fault but I really didn't want to wake before 8 considering I didn't get to bed until 3. I see a nap in my future at some point today.
I listen to the radio in the kitchen via Alexa. Each morning I'll tell her to turn on Sun FM -- our local radio station and switch the kettle on at the same time. At least half the time she'll respond by playing Sam FM, a radio station which I discovered in based in Oregon. At this point, I just mostly leave it on that station as the music is good with little talking due to time zones. But really, Alexa needs to learn to understand my early morning mumbling already.
It's August now and the reality shows that I'll be watching throughout the autumn and into winter have started to make themselves known. Bake Off has released a trailer, though no start date as of yet. The Strictly celebs have started to be revealed and next week Australian Masterchef starts, which is my favourite MC of all. Though, I see that the three judges have been sacked due to wanting more money, but I can't look for more details as it's inevitable I'll see a spoiler for this season's winner.
Oh man, we were told James needed a telephone interview about finances for the stairlift change, so he's been fast asleep on the couch and I've been listening for the call which was supposed to come between 10 and 12. But the woman has just turned up in person. James was asleep, not dressed, no leg on, nothing. Talk about awkward. But, it's done and now we're on the waiting list for a new stairlift. He's been assessed at medium need, which is fair enough as the one we have now still works, and it should be fitted after a few months.
Ever get the feeling it's going to be one of those days?

Date: 2019-08-01 02:26 pm (UTC)I don't do Alexa (heck, I don't really do radio much) and haven't heard of the station, but obviously as it's from Oregon I have to hope Sam FM is entertaining.
urgh - a "surprise! it's in person" interview instead of the phone one you expected is indeed awkward, but I'm glad it's done and the replacement lift approved for the not-too-distant future

Date: 2019-08-01 03:43 pm (UTC)Sam FM has some good music. I must admit it always takes me a while to realise the wrong station is playing, usually when the accent of the presenter registers. Not that they talk much, but I guess that's because it must be a middle of the night show if I'm listening in the morning.
I wish I knew why they'd changed from 'we'll phone between 10-12' to turning up on the doorstep. Thankfully things were tidy, except for James flaked out in his undies on the couch *g*

Date: 2019-08-01 04:18 pm (UTC)It did get better but now I'm gearing myself up to remake the bed. It's a superking, against two walls and the mattress protector and bottom sheet need these elastic strap things attaching to keep them in place.
Inevitably when I make the bed I end up needing another four arms and at some point will be holding onto a corner of the sheet with my teeth, holding the heavy ass mattress up with one hand while trying to attach the strap with the other while mentally going, why? WHY!?
But hey, clean sheets later, so I'll count it as an eventual win.

Date: 2019-08-02 04:24 am (UTC)Also yikes about the surprise in-person interview. I say someone who does that, is not allowed to complain if the person they're visiting is not prepared to receive them. Glad to hear the outcome was positive, though!

That's true. Her turning up on the doorstep threw me as it's not like there was anywhere else to take her apart from through the living room.

Date: 2019-08-02 10:09 am (UTC)I'm looking forward to Bake Off a lot. It's weird as I always think it's an autumn show, but it's not really, especially when it first starts.
Thankfully it got better. Though I seemed to spend it half asleep.

Date: 2019-08-02 07:39 pm (UTC)If that woman had turned up at my door when I was expecting a phone call I would probably not have opened - I almost never do for people I don't know. I'm glad to hear the interview itself went well though.
I hope your fears were unfounded and the rest of your day was very calm and humdrum!

Date: 2019-08-05 03:19 pm (UTC)I've often wondered that myself. I have lino in the kitchen, hardwood flooring in the passage, lino in the downstairs toilet and carpet in the living room. I bet you can guess which one they always seem to aim for.
I usually have a lookout of the spyhole in the door to see who is knocking. I won't answer to anyone who looks like they're doorstep selling, but she looked official. I still don't know why she turned up in person, though.
The rest of the day was fine, thankfully.

Date: 2019-08-05 02:41 pm (UTC)I don't know many of the celebs either but just saw Jamie Laing has been announced and have to admit I have a soft spot for him after his Bake Off appearance. And the Paralympic table tennis player has AMC the same as James. So no doubt we'll be supporting him.

Date: 2019-08-05 01:35 pm (UTC)Though a few days ago she mixed it up and turned on a station that was all Blink, Panic, MCR etc. That was fabulous, but they never said the name when I was listening, so I'll probably never hear it again.
