The wasp man came yesterday and said we got the award for the angriest wasps. Which, thank you wasp man, but it's an award I really didn't want. I was considering spraying them myself with wasp killing foam but realised I was really underestimating how high the wasps were considering you have to go up four steps to the front door, plus, didn't have a ladder. So, wasp man, it was. He turned up in his full beekeeping gear and sprayed them and horrified me even more by saying the slight bulge in the toilet ceiling was part of the nest and that if we'd have left it the wasps would have quadrupled by October and probably burst through the ceiling. He took a video of the angry wasps to put on his FB so I'll have to keep an eye out for that. And ha, he's put it up on FB, you can see it here.

Yesterday we also went to Newcastle to the limb centre yet again. Thankfully, that time it was a short appointment just to make sure James' new leg was working for him. Though, it started a bit frantic as we realised that his appointment was actually half an hour before we thought and we had 30 minutes to get to Newcastle, which is doable if traffic is okay, but just. In the end we arrived a minute late which was fine.

After that, we bought Subway salads for dinner and ate them on Newcastle quayside looking up at the Tyne bridge, home via the horse fields where I got to stroke some ponies and then to the doctors so I could get my B12. Then back for wasp man.

This morning it was lashing down with rain so it felt like a cinema day -- and yeah, I know, to us any day can be a cinema day. We went to see Blinded by the Light and enjoyed it lots. I loved how it was a mix of Bruce Springsteen music and 80s music and fashion that reminded me of my childhood. Despite some uncomfortable moments it was nicely feelgood and just what I was in the mood for.

Considering how many wasps there were it's surprising no one did get stung. We were lucky they were at the side of the house and not the front or back.

Wasp man did get stung when he was investigating before he put on his gear, though.

It is! I think I'd have had a heart attack if I'd been in the toilet and a load of wasps fell through the ceiling.

The ponies were so lovely but so grimy. I had to take multiple wipes to my hands after. But it was worth it.

Yeah, same here. When we walked out of the cinema it was brilliant sunlight and really hot. Great for the plants but horrible for knowing what to wear.

Blinded by the Light is the movie I have been most eager for! Glad it was enjoyable.

UGH, I'm glad Wasp Man took care of that for you, because, yeah bulging ceiling is not on.

It's really good. I loved all the music and spent a lot of time playing spot the famous British actor. The fashion/hairstyles cracked me up often, A Flock of Seagulls have a lot to answer for.

The Wasp man told me about a woman who'd had a nest in her attic, and didn't realise until the nest got so big it fell through the ceiling into her bath while she was in it D:

oh, my goodness! Your wasp man seems to be really good at horror stories! *shudders* V. glad it got sorted before things got to that level! (There seemed to be a ton of wasps in Alnwick clearly the weather in your part of the world has been Conducive to Wasp this summer!)

It was bad enough him pointing out the slight bulge in the ceiling that was part of their nest, but to hear about them falling into someone's bath was horrible.

The wasps need to go away and stay away!

I have to admit, I felt a bit sorry for the wasps, but just a tiny bit. No way could they have stayed where they were.

It does seem to be finally suiting James. It took long enough to get it completely right, though.

Sounds like it definitely was a good idea to get a professional to get rid of the wasps. Wasps falling down from the ceiling when you're on the loo would have been horrible!

If I could have reached I probably would have had a go with the wasp foam, but as I couldn't, I figured the professional could deal.

Oh man, I know! I keep thinking of how the wasps could have fallen from then the ceiling and shudder each time.

Yeah, at last. It took so long to get perfectly right and comfortable, much longer than other legs. But he still prefers his red one for some reason. At least the black one is there for a comfy backup if needed.

Yikes at all those wasps! Like everyone else has already said, it sounds like the set up for some horror flick. I mean, the idea of that wasp nest bursting inside the house and all. DDDDD:

I liked Blinded by the Light a lot more than I liked Yesterday (which is a movie that just set my teeth on edge despite my being a lifelong fan of the Beatles.) Funnily enough, I'm familiar (but not a huge fan of) Springsteen. Though I did see him at a concert several years ago (I was accompanying a cousin who had an extra ticket) and had a good time.

I agree I liked Blinded by the Light much better than Yesterday. You've got me wondering why now and thinking about it, Yesterday hit my embarrassment squick a few times while Blinded by the Light was just a lot of fun. Well, most of it was anyway.

I did laugh when they went to New Jersey. All those photos were such a fannish thing to do.

I think that, for me, Yesterday's premise ran its course v. early in the movie (for me). Probably after finding out what else 'never existed' in the new universe or whatever. Also, I hated the whole storyline with Lily Collins and how it took forever and a day for the dude to realize he loved her too.

Blinded by the Light felt earnest and had a more empathy-filled story, imo. I had a lot more fun watching it. Also, yeah, I thought about the photos and was like YUP, I'VE DONE THAT TOO!
