Sep. 8th, 2019 10:47 amStrictly started last night. As always I didn't recognise half the celebs, but none were especially irritating which is good. Though I hope the talk about AJ and his partner looking amazing together and have chemistry already isn't going to be a full-time thing, I'm still cringing about the 'kiss kiss' comments about him and Molly from a few seasons ago. I missed Pasha, and that Gorka wasn't a main dancer, especially as he said in comments to his announcement insta post that it wasn't his choice. But, do like Neil and Johannes stepping up.
I still think AJ is ridiculously attractive, which is stupid as in his acting segments he still has all the personality of a lump of wood. There's just something about him and I may have looked up AJ focussed Strictly fic up in the past. Sadly, what there is is terrible, like, I try to erase it from my mind terrible.
It's a shame Jamie Laing had to leave the show due to being injured as he made me laugh a lot in the celeb Bake Off and think he would have had a good partnership with Oti, who is all kinds of fantastic. It's also good to see Will Bayley take part as he has arthrogryposis, the same as James.
So yes, Strictly is back and TV is sliding nicely into the usual autumn schedule. Which means I'm also watching Celeb Masterchef where I have to admit that I've developed quite the soft spot for Joey Essex. I mean, what? How did that even happen?
Stuff that isn't reality tv. Yesterday I went to see the new It movie and liked it. It's been years since I've read the book and had been spoiled about some things going in, but enjoyed the whole thing, even though I didn't find it at all frightening, and I'm usually a wuss about things like that. Plus, it had one scene that completely melted my cold black heart.
Earlier in the week, I'd gone to a spiritualist circle in the local Costa. It was the first time I'd done something like that, though have been to see spiritualists before. It was interesting and I'd go back, though it did mean I'd had three big coffees from Costa that day as I had two at the meeting and one in the morning after going to the doctors for blood tests.
I've mentioned before that I share care of Megan, mam's cat, with Kayleigh. She looks after Meg day to day, buying food, litter etc and we pay for Megan's insurance and buy extra litter as Megan will only use the expensive kind. It's good she has the insurance as she has an ongoing skin condition that means she needs almost monthly treatment with antibiotics and steroids. Mostly that's paid by the insurance but last time she needed bloods doing to make sure the meds aren't harming her, meaning we got sent a nearly £100 excess bill. I swear these cats are making us bleed money atm.
Other than that, I haven't really done much as James had a bit of a backslide health-wise. Though I think he'd picked up a virus and it wasn't an actual part of the flare. It's a nice day, so soon I'm going to drag him out for a short walk, and maybe pick up a bonfire spiced skinny latte while doing so. I mean, it would be rude not to when the Costa is right there.

Date: 2019-09-08 10:33 am (UTC)I’ve watched Masterchef too! I’ll admit I always have had a soft spot for Joey but I fully expected him to be the first to go. So for him to do so well was impressive🖤
I’m glad you had a nice time and both and awww your heart isn’t black💜
Aww no, I hope he gets better soon, poor James. And poor kitty too

Date: 2019-09-08 01:42 pm (UTC)I was impressed with Joey's cooking, especially as it seemed to be something he does naturally without knowing a lot of the ingredients he's actually using.
I often wonder if he puts on some of his lack of knowledge, but whether he does or not, he's made a success of himself and I think that's great.

Date: 2019-09-08 04:54 pm (UTC)And I'm sorry to hear that about James. Best wishes for relief and recovery for him. A good autumn-themed drink definitely seems called for as an accessory to a walk.

Date: 2019-09-08 10:54 pm (UTC)Ooof, at Megan's bill. Good call on having insurance for her cuz getting that bill must have not been fun.
Here's hoping that James bounces back soon. <3

Date: 2019-09-10 04:49 pm (UTC)I'm so glad mam bought top of the range for life cover for Megan because her treatment is so expensive. Thankfully as she did we only get an excess every now and then instead of having to pay out hundreds every month.
Thank you. It's been a long time feeling well for him this time.

Date: 2019-09-11 07:08 pm (UTC)And if even you think that it really must be truely horrible ;-D
I'm very glad Lancecat's such a healthy kitty. Visiting the vet for his shots are expensive enough!
Poor James! I hope he's feeling better by now.

Date: 2019-09-12 03:30 pm (UTC)I know! I can forgive a lot in fic, and can often enjoy something despite it having faults, but the Strictly fic I found. Just, no.
The vet bills really do mount up if you have pets that are sick or injured. Thankfully both Milo and Pansy are fine, and hopefully, it stays that way! Same for Lancecat, too.
He's a bit better, but this flair has taken a lot out of him. The balance between pushing him to get out and move and knowing he needs to rest is a difficult one at times.
