Apart from a few last touches the bedroom is now done and decorated.
We still need to put up the new curtain hooks and I'd like a new bedside table and lamp that looks nicer, and James needs a small basket or container to keep his tablets and bits and bobs tidy on his shelf, but the main bits are done. Maybe not 100% perfect, but I'm proud we did it all on our own.
I actually enjoyed wallpapering, there was something very satisfying about hanging it and because it was paste the wall and not paste the paper kind, it was easy to shift it around to match the pattern. I only had to do one tiny patch where I cut off the top overhang part on a slant but the rest was fine. I even managed to cut it around the shelf in the corner. It was just a shame that I had to open a second roll just for a few inches of wallpaper that needed to be hung at the far side. Apparently, that wall is one wallpaper roll big and just a touch over.
Some of you may remember but that wall used to have a sliding door into the bathroom when it was used as a wetroom. Since we got that taken out the wall has been bare plaster, so we're talking many years here. So, actually having wallpaper there is a big change.
This is the colour we started with, a very bright yellow. So it needed a white base coat before the silvery grey.

The side of the room with the bed in, and of course, my wall *preens* Those are the curtains we got from B&M, only £3 a pair and so thick. Not that we ever draw the curtains in the bedroom but it's nice to know we could if we wanted to. They'll look so much better when the proper hooks are up, I hope so anyway. The hooks are big curved black metal, so the curtains should tuck behind them nicely.

I don't really have any good photos of the other end of the room. This is the bookshelves when I was in the process of bringing back the books. The shelves at the front are a project we're considering. I got them from mam and dad way back in the day and they're big, heavy, sturdy, but match nothing in the room. Plus, too big for in front of the window, really. So we're considering either painting/decorating the front somehow and changing the handles, or else getting rid of the shelves in the spare bedroom and putting the white ones in there and buying something smaller that will match our bedroom. But, that's another job for the future.

Finally, have one of Tinker surveying all of the work. She's doing well, her fur has become much shinier which I assume is due to the meds, is eating well and seems to have regained energy which is great.

Randomly, my In-laws decided to invite us out for Sunday dinner today, their treat. So catching up with comments and online stuff will have to wait until tomorrow as I want to have a tip and charity shop run first.
And also a cinema visit later I suspect. It's been too long.

Date: 2019-09-24 04:15 pm (UTC)I do love the wallpaper we picked, I'm used to brighter colours in the bedroom but the milder ones work well.
She's doing a lot better, though seems to think she should get posh food all the time now and not just at med time *g*

Date: 2019-09-24 03:32 pm (UTC)I have to admit that I was very tempted to get cartoon cats for the wallpaper, but went for the more grown-up option, in the end. *g*
Tinker is an excellent supervisor. In the short time she's not fast asleep.

Honestly, I think the paste the wall thing made a lot of difference as I just slapped on the paste and then could slide the paper around until I got the match.

I hope you'd a nice dinner out with the inlaws.

Date: 2019-09-27 04:32 pm (UTC)I asked for advice at the DIY shop about hanging wallpaper and the lady there recommended the paste on wall type of papering, and I'm so glad I listened to her. The other way must have been really messy.
Tinker is doing great. She's been to the vets today for her second B12 injection so everything is looking positive.
We did have a nice dinner. Then it was Pauline's birthday yesterday so we took her out for dinner too. So, we've had two nice dinners out this week.
