Nov. 18th, 2019 11:08 pmWe've been to see The Bodyguard at the theatre tonight and it was great. I especially enjoyed getting up and dancing at the end. We went with Kayleigh and her girlfriend Lucy, though didn't sit together as we need aisle end seats and they didn't so could sit further forward. But, we all enjoyed it a lot, and Alexandra Burke was fantastic in one of the lead roles.
Though, at one point I was considering not going as today has been a day. Milo started drooling big time last night, like, columns of thick drool coming out of his mouth. I got really worried this morning and thankfully the vets could squeeze him in. They think he's either licked something he shouldn't have or has some kind of gastric issue, both of which apparently make cats drool. He's had anti-sickness meds, painkillers and we have to give him two kinds of painkiller and an anti-acid at home and we have to take him back on Wednesday if it doesn't get better. He's eating and drinking fine, it's just all this drool that's the issue. Plus, when they did blood tests they found not only did he have kidney issues like Tinker, but his liver levels were off too. But, at least his thyroid was fine so that was good.
I'm trying not to think of the bill created by two cats needing regular visits because, man. It's already high enough.
Because of the drool issue and James being on late shift I didn't get much sleep last night and had to be up early to phone the vets. Then we needed to drive to Newcastle for James' next counselling session and at that point, I was done. Just wanted to finish that and go home, but I'm glad I didn't because the show was great.
Now though, I'm drooping and am about to crawl into bed once Milo's finished eating and I can give him his last painkiller.
Cats, man. It's good we love them so much.

Date: 2019-11-19 08:54 am (UTC)We've been lucky really that none of them have had health issues so far so I can't complain too much. I guess it's not that surprising they all start to hit at the same time as three of them were pretty much the same age.
I loved the show, and am glad I went. But think I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow last night.

Date: 2019-11-19 08:57 am (UTC)It looks like Milo is getting better. He was drool free when I woke up anyway.

Date: 2019-11-19 08:59 am (UTC)Milo wasn't drooling this morning, which is great. He looked so pathetic yesterday, his chest soaked and these long columns of drool hanging from his mouth. But, he's a licky cat, always has been. One of his favourite things to do is lick hair from the cat tower if he finds any that has built up. He's a weirdo, a loveable weirdo.
I'm glad I made the effort as I was seriously considering offering the tickets to someone else. But, being out with everyone and watching something good was an excellent energy boost.

Date: 2019-11-21 02:53 pm (UTC)The drool he had sounds exactly like the kind you had to deal with in terms of Commander. Milo's whole chest was soaked, and the bed, and the quilt he lies on, everything. It really was thick slimy drool.
But in Milo's case I never saw him actually eat or lick anything, so had no idea why it started. Therefore, loads of meds from the vet.
He's much better now and back to his old self. But man, I hope he never does it again.
And the same for your kitties.

Date: 2019-11-21 05:36 pm (UTC)Pets, so complicated. So expensive. So worth every amount of time, effort and money.
Hope you sort your cat's dose out so he's pain free and vomit free.

Date: 2019-11-21 06:16 pm (UTC)Poor Milo!! I see from comments that he's better again now which must be a great relief. Too bad about his kidney and liver issues but now he can at least get proper meds which will hopefully let him live a much longer and happier life than if he'd gone undiagnosed. (Though every time you write about your kitties health problems I start to worry about Lancecat. He seems disgustingly healthy but you never know. Next time he's getting his yearly shots I think I'm going to ask them to do a blood test too just to be on the safe side.)

Date: 2019-11-22 03:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I think it's a good idea to have a blood test done. All of mine seemed healthy too, but in their cases, age crept up and issues are creeping in. I'm sure many cats carry on into their old ages completely healthy apart from slowing down, unfortunately, Milo and Tinker weren't so lucky.
