Nov. 20th, 2019 06:29 pmThe fostering people finally came out today, and the first steps taken. We've both passed the initial health screening and the house was deemed fine too. I was glad I'd spent so long getting it sorted as they did need to look around, but thankfully the only issues were minor. More decluttering of the spare bedroom if they ever do come to live with us, then the rest was childproofing the house. Putting away cleaning products in the bathroom, making sure bath bombs etc are kept out of reach. The fish tank attached to the wall and locks put on the kitchen cupboards. Basic kid proofing really, stuff I haven't had to think about for nearly 20 years.
Next is the long course, and if we pass that it's onto more rigorous assessments, which doesn't sound ominous at all. But, another step done, and for now, just waiting. Which is fine with me, waiting means nothing disastrous is happening.
Milo is much better. The drooling started to ease off during the night after he saw the vet and is all gone now. I really do think he'd licked something he shouldn't have as he's a very licky cat and one of his habits is to try and eat any build up of cat hair he finds on the cat tower. So, he has form for licking/eating stuff he shouldn't. I do keep second-guessing myself if I should have waited and not having any bill at all, but in the end, he looked so pathetic and there was just so much drool I wouldn't have been able to settle until he'd seen a vet. Plus, at least now we know about his kidney and liver issues and they can keep an eye on those.
Yesterday we went to see Last Christmas and it was everything I expected. I can totally understand why some people reacted badly to part of the plot, and there's certainly nothing new being said. But, it's festive to the extreme, has some good music, decorations, tinsel, lights, all that good stuff and for a Christmas lover it should hit their every button. It certainly did mine.
They had a display set up in the foyer of the Odeon, and as we tend to do, we both posed on the bench. Solo at first, then a lovely lady offered to take photos of us both. That one is on insta if anyone is interested.
To end on a good note. How great is that photo of MCR? It's a few days old now, but it's something I never thought I'd see again.

Date: 2019-11-20 09:29 pm (UTC)also, glad to hear that Milo has improved - too bad he doesn't seem to learn that licking strange things isn't wise. hopefully in the future he'll avoid whatever caused the drooling

Date: 2019-11-21 09:18 am (UTC)On my last post one of my friends commented how one of her cats had the exact same symptoms after biting a glow stick. So, at this point I'm pretty much sure he has tried to eat something bad for him. What I don't know, but knowing him it could have been anything. You'd think he was a kitten not an old man who should know better.

I still haven't really taken in that they're going to play together again!

Date: 2019-11-22 12:15 am (UTC)Local friends have taken on a niece & nephew this year, and it's been a big change for them, but they're all doing great and I am sure that you and James would do just as brilliantly if it IS needed :)

I know. It's taking me a while to switch from enjoying them as comic artists/dads/other bands to being MCR again. It's going to be amazing, but also a shock to actually see them perform together.

Date: 2019-11-22 03:04 pm (UTC)I still think they'll stay at home as my SiL is doing everything requested of her in terms of the house and parenting. They did have a step back as their dad was going to be allowed home this week, but a video surfaced showing him shouting at the kids last year. So, until he's taken a load of anger management classes he has to stay on supervised visits only. Which is disappointing for him and my SiL, but in the long run should be a good thing.

(Also glad that you're sharing MCR things, otherwise I would not see them and *my heart!*)

I'll keep sharing the MCR stuff because I remain delighted they're actually back. I still can hardly believe it.

Date: 2019-11-24 09:27 pm (UTC)Behold my COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE that you enjoyed Last Christmas! ;) I'd figured out the part of the plot that you're referring to (as did many other folks). Christmas movies aren't my cuppa, but I'm delighted you had a great time.
Oh, the band being together is just...it still feels a little bit like a dream? To think that we're about a month from seeing them (in pics and video) back on the stage is a LOT.

I haven't even heard of Last Christmas?

Date: 2019-12-29 09:29 am (UTC)The build-up seemed to take forever, but I remain glad that first step is over.
The MCR group photo was so great! And now we've had so much more.

I'm so glad the screening is over. Though do wonder what's in store for the new year.
I haven't even heard of Last Christmas?
Did you ever see any trailers? I still love it loads, but in a very cheesy not for everyone I know, way.

Last Christmas worked so well for me, but I'm aware that's because I'm a sucker for a cheesy Christmas stuffed film, which this really was. They threw everything at it, songs, decorations, cliched plot, and I gobbled it up.
MCR being back is a lot and remains so now. And to think we have so much more to go.
