Milo was back at the vets for his checkup today. He'd lost a little bit of weight and needed to have his bloods checked again. Talking to the vet beforehand about what would happen if his liver levels were still off, and she started talking about scans and biopsies and pound signs were being burned in front of my eyes. But, thankfully, when he came back his liver was back to normal and while his kidney levels were still off, it was only a little and can be managed by special food. Which you'd think was the same special food Tinker has for her kidney issues, but no! Life is never that easy and this is a renal food with other added elements.
Took him home and then went to see Pauline as she had James' birthday card and present. She made us some lunch and from there we headed for a new The Range which has opened near Durham. The place is huge and is packed with amazing Christmas stuff. Including tinsel robots which were amazingly ugly. However, sadly, one didn't come home with me. Because I got a bandy-legged Santa instead :D
On the way home the doctors phoned, and all James' blood results came back well, apart from the fact he has a Vitamin D deficiency and they need him to go out and buy a supplement. We've been researching and it says that lack can cause depression, fatigue, joint pain etc, all of which fit his symptoms. I mean, it won't be the only issue, I know it can't be that simple, but hopefully getting his levels back up will help.
Yesterday we went to see Frozen 2, which was great. We've started to know some of the staff working at Durham Odeon and one said that it wasn't our usual thing. I told her our usual thing is pretty much anything showing on the screen as long as it's not a gory slasher fic or aimed at five-year-olds. Anything between that, bring it on.

Date: 2019-11-26 06:00 pm (UTC)Vitamin D deficiency is fairly common, especially for those of us not living in sunny climes. hopefully a supplement will help James feel a lot better, even if that doesn't fix all the issues
I've not heard much buzz about Frozen 2 yet - I loved the first movie, and have been trying to decide if I wanted to see this one. maybe I will :)

The vitamin D supplement seems to be helping James. Though, whether it actually is or it's just a placebo this early I don't know.

I liked it. It was entertaining, had some catchy tunes and kick ass princesses/Queen. I can't ask more more, really.

That’s good! Hopefully that helps him
Yay! Hee I love that you see all the things! I might see Frozen 2 but can’t till next week at least (though I did find out the local cinema is doing the midnight showing for Star Wars again, yay!)

That sounds great,
Did you get your ticket for the midnight showing of Star Wars?

Not yet, we usually get them on the night. There’s been good turnouts but it’s not been packed so...

I agree! I love that you have such different styles in one place, from the ultimate in tacky tinsel themed stuff to things that are really quite classy. It's an amazing place.

Date: 2019-11-26 08:20 pm (UTC)Vitamin D deficiency is something that's more common nowadays. Mainly because humans tend to spend a lot more time indoors. I was diagnosed with the same thing a few years ago and can say that the supplements deffo helped. Especially since I'm pretty much a vampire, lol.
LOL at the staff being confused abt you and James going to see Frozen 2. Like, by now, they should be more surprised if y'all had gone to see, I dunno, Halloween or Child's Play. What with both of those being horror movies and all...
I've yet to watch the first movie (though it's on Disney+ and all, but I just feel no need to check it out), so my reaction to the sequel is mostly like "huh, that's nice." Per what I've heard, a lot of folks liked it?
Right now, I'm less than a day way from watching Knives Out and basically chomping at the bit for it.

Date: 2019-12-14 04:45 pm (UTC)I know, it's ridiculous, and not cheap to buy either. I mean, cheaper than constant vet bills if we did nothing, but still more expensive than stuff you can buy in a shop.

That's good to know. James is taking the supplements and says he feels better, considering it's only a week or so since he started I don't know if he actually is or it's a placebo, but I hope it's the first.

I can easily say, they would be surprised if they saw us going to them. I'll try anything apart from out and out horror films. Though, we didn't go and see Dora the Explorer either, that should count *g*
I didn't see the first Frozen for a long time, in fact it was only a couple of Christmas' ago when I watched on Christmas day with my mam and Kayleigh, so it comes along with nice memories. I wasn't sure if I'd like the second one without the associated memories, but it turns out a belted out song can win me over always.

Date: 2019-11-28 07:27 pm (UTC)Tinsel robots??? I'm now imagining a robot entirely made from tinsel, all soft and fluffy :-)
Also good to hear James' blood results were mostly okay except for the Vitamin D. I'll keep my fingers crossed getting that up to normal will at least help a bit with his problems.

Date: 2019-12-13 03:52 pm (UTC)It's typical they're not the same. Thankfully both can be treated with food, but I wish it was the same kind.
The tinsel robot was fab, but also very weird looking.
The vit d does seem to be helping a bit. So, fingers crossed it continues to do so.

Date: 2019-12-13 03:53 pm (UTC)I was so pleased special food was the only treatment. That we can do, even if it's a little more expensive than the bog standard stuff.
