Thank you
sylvaine for the awesome baby sparkle deer. Of course it's good enough for the herd, in fact, it's part of it right now. Also, thank you so much
bettina for the card ♥
There's also a picture of Tinker in the above post. She was at the vets this morning and has put on weight. So, that means she doesn't have to go again for five weeks and has been put on monthly B12 injections, so that's some nice progress.
A few day ago we were out delivering Christmas cards to neighbours on the estate. I always leave James the job of making the list of people to deliver to, and he did so this time. Our estate consists of 91 houses, the list had 45 houses to deliver to. Yeah, we've lived here a long time and chat to a lot of people when we're out and about. But still, 45 houses... However, it could have been more as when James was making the list he asked should he include the house which has the nice dog standing in the window, and just, no. I'll happily give cards to people we speak to occasionally, and certainly don't give in order to get back. But, giving to someone because we like to see their dog feels like crossing some kind of 'that's a bit much' line.
Otherwise, as it was sunny that day, I'd been out tidying the garden and doing some pruning of the honeysuckle bush. And got rather over-enthusiastic doing so and cut through the washing line. Thankfully it's a pull out one, so I'm hoping it's got some more slack in the pull-out end and I can fix it back up at some point
This week I've also emailed some people about addresses and on reply, finished my cards and sent them and some parcels. So I'm feeling accomplished. A week or so behind where I'd want to be in terms of sending, but at least they're done.
We've also been to see Jumanji the next level at the cinema, which was okay. Not as good as the last one I felt, but a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
But, terrible news. When at the Metrocentre I called into Lush and they've discontinued the Karma bubble bath bar. WOE! I say again, WOE! They tried to appease me by saying all-new bubble bath bars would be hitting the shelves in the new year, but that doesn't help now. Karma is my favourite D:
This afternoon James went off to drive my SiLs partner to his home town to pick up Christmas presents. It's only an hour or so drive and he asked if I wanted to go along, but we haven't been apart since his break down at work, and I knew he'd have company. So I'm spending the afternoon chilling in the quiet. Though, as drives go it's not good timing as James got a new leg and different stump socks and they've given him painful blisters. We've no solid plans over the weekend so I think some time with no leg will have to happen.

Date: 2019-12-13 01:17 pm (UTC)Wow that’s a lot of cards! I’ve not sent any yet (mostly cause I didn’t wanna spread whatever I had) but I’m hoping to next week.
Aww no! It sucks when things we like get discontinued *hugs*

Date: 2019-12-13 02:01 pm (UTC)I'm pleased all the cards are done. I do enjoy sending them, but really need to get organised and get some address stickers done for myself. Cut down the writing a little.
I know! I was looking all over the shop for the karma bars, and couldn't believe they'd discontinued them.

Date: 2019-12-13 09:22 pm (UTC)Hooray for sending out the cards too! I most deffo agree with your hesitation to sending out cards to someone who you don't interact as much. That would feel excessive to me.
Are you SURE that you cut the laundry line "by accident"? Hmmmmmm....
I've heard mostly good things about the Jumanji sequel. Though it's too low on my list to even consider going to go see it until January (if it is still at the movies then).
I can't believe LUSH would do you so dirty, T.! I'm SMH at them.
Hope you had a lovely quiet time today. <3

Date: 2019-12-14 05:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, excessive is right. I like sending greetings to people we chat to, even if we're not actually firm friends. But people on nodding terms not so much.
As for the washing line. All I can say is, I've used the tumbler a lot more lately simply because there's no line atm. Which, I have to admit, is much easier than hanging stuff out in the cold to dry a little.
The Jumanki sequel was fun but I prefered the last one because the situation and humour was unexpected, while I knew what was going to happen this time. When you have a list of films you want to see I can well understand it coming far down on that list.
I was not amused at Lush discontinuing the Karma bubblebath bar. At least the perfume is still available. I'd hate to lose my hippie juice smell.
I did, it was a very peaceful afternoon.

LUSH HOW VERY DARE??!?!?!?!?!?!???!
Sounds like the drive - despite the timing - is a good thing, I'm pleased <3

Date: 2019-12-15 08:04 am (UTC)Oh man, I was so pleased about Tinker, too. Milo is there this week and I really hope he has good news also.
I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH LUSH! I would have stocked up a few of the karma bars if I'd known, but no it's too late.
Yeah, it was a good thing for us both.

Date: 2019-12-15 08:02 am (UTC)I don't mind sending them to the people we actually know, and we do know a lot as we've lived there so long. But you're right, the dog would totally rather have a pat.

Date: 2019-12-15 12:54 pm (UTC)Awww, I love James. He is so sociable in a way we are not. And why not send a card to the dog and not the neighbor. I'm sure the neighbor would find it funny. I sure like the idea. *g*
Yay finishing your cards and mailing stuff off! I always think I am done, but then new stuff pops up, this time, 2 cards came back because of missing stamps. DUH!
LUSH, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!! This is worse than the no-muffin day! *g*

Okay, you say that and now I have to tell you a story. You may remember there's a field at the top of our estate and you have to drive past it to get out. Often when we drive past there's a man there with his dogs, we called the dogs Scruff and Collie, because, well, one was a collie and the other this scruff mutt type thing.
One day the man was just crossing the road to get back to his house -- he lives opposite to mam so we've seen him go in often -- and James stopped and asked what the dogs are actually called. Turns out their names are Jess and Dominio. To cut this story short, Jess and Donimo, and their human, got a card off us this year *g*
This is not the dog in the window btw. That's another dog.
Oh man, when James sent his sick notes in they came back without stamps. It's easy to do sometimes.
I KNOW! First the muffins and now this. Why does life hate me?!

Date: 2019-12-15 07:01 pm (UTC)That's so good to hear about Tinker! And it must be such a relief for you to only have to give her shots once a month.
That's A LOT of cards! I'm very impressed by how neighbourly you are with your cards. It's not something I think I've ever heard anyone do before.
Oops? I completely understand how it could happen, pruning is strangely mesmerising!
I mailed my last cards & gifts on Thursday and I thought I was suprisingly early :-)
Oh no!! Why do they always discontinue our favourites?!! I hope you'll at least can stock up a bit in preparation.

Oh man, yeah. I still don't like giving them, but if I have to, once a month is much better than weekly.

My neighbours have always given cards, just one of those things that have happened I guess. Saying that, I do think sending cards in general is on the decline, so I suspect our list will be shorter next year.

Yeah, it really is.

Sadly, no. Lush did this thing where they pulled back from social media completely as a company as they want a more personal experience of customers interacting on a local level with their shop. Which is their choice, but does mean you don't get a general heads up of any changes.

Wow, 45 cards just for your neighborhood! :0 that's about as many cards as I sent out all together last year!
Oh noooo, Lush, how could you?!

45 was a lot. At least no postage was involved, that would have got a huge no.

I'm impressed you're done with your cards. I still have three left to go.
And, as the poet says, let there be spaces in your togetherness. I hope the blisters go away soon.

I'm still shocked I got them all done. That doesn't happen often.
