Jan. 19th, 2020 05:58 pmIt was another sunny but cold day, so we had another walk to the Wetlands.
This time James didn't take the scooter. He's made a pledge to have a walk every day and the wetlands is perfect for that as there are plenty of benches all around the walks, and as we did the inner circle route which is just under a mile, it was a nice stroll for us both.

Most of the ponds were iced over, but the ducks were managing to swim in the uniced parts.

One of the otters found a bit of fish leftover from an earlier feeding and was having a good old chew on that fish head.

They have some dalmatian pelicans in at the moment. They're in quarantine before going off to London wetlands next month. But wow, were those things big, and the beaks made a hell of a bang when they snapped them together.

Yesterday we went to see Bad Boys For Life and it was okay. A popcorn movie really with lots of action and implausible plot but hey, I suspected that going in so it was a nice enough few hours. Going to Durham meant we had our walk going through Durham itself, up into the market square where James had his photo taken holding an owl and we swerved the car park you have to pay for by parking on the big hill that goes out of the centre of town. I was actually proud of James and all the walking he did as with having no ability to flex his ankles he finds hills really hard, but he did them. Maybe not without complaint, but did them anyway.
Snowflake will happen tomorrow, but it's so lovely to read all the posts that have already been posted in response, so many fantastic people being showered with praise ♥

Date: 2020-01-19 08:09 pm (UTC)That’s exactly how I’d imagine it would be

Date: 2020-01-20 09:51 am (UTC)I had fun watching some ducks smash the ice, they really have the action down, their wings going like crazy.

Date: 2020-01-20 09:54 am (UTC)Yeah, I knew going in the film wasn't going to be amazing. But it was entertaining, which suited me just fine.
The owl was so big. Though apparently not very heavy, so it must have been all feathers.

Date: 2020-01-20 12:51 pm (UTC)Honestly, it's not really my thing either. But, it was entertaining enough and I have low standards at times *g*
Funnily enough, the second one was on Sky yesterday and I tried to watch and gave up. The cinema environment helps a lot in terms of watching mid-level interest films.

Date: 2020-01-20 08:47 pm (UTC)What a cute otter!!
Pelicans are such weird-looking birds. The proportions are all wrong somehow.
Go you and go James for all the walking you're doing!
PS Take that, expensive car park :-)

Date: 2020-01-21 07:37 am (UTC)The otter was adorable! I do enjoy looking at them when we go to the Wetlands, especially as they change year to year with new babies and some of the older ones going to other areas.

They really are. Seeing them up close was amazing because they're so big, which I didn't really expect from seeing photos.
We missed our walk yesterday with having to stop in for the car to be delivered and felt sluggish for doing so.
Ha, yes! I felt that way about the expensive car park too. I have to admit parking in the car park is much more convenient, but I'd rather walk a few minutes and not pay at all.

Date: 2020-01-23 11:48 pm (UTC)Hooray for that nice walk. It sounds like both you and James had a great time.
You know what's funny? I don't think I've ever watched any of the Bad Boys movies. Though I have ZERO IDEA why. The first one was airing on TV and I tuned in for abt all of 5 minutes before I went "naaaaah" and changed the channel to something else. THAT SAID, I've heard that it's exactly as you mention in your post: a total popcorn movie that does exactly what it promises.

Date: 2020-02-02 08:20 am (UTC)We did have a good time. The wetlands is getting to be our place to go for walks. I mean, we never see anything new but terrain wise it's perfect.

Yep, that's it in a nutshell. I saw the second Bad Boys was on tv a few days after seeing this one at the cinema and I started to watch but turned it off. Without the whole cinema experience, it just couldn't hold my attention.
