Jan. 22nd, 2020 05:30 pmTinker was back at the vets today.
She was supposed to be there on Friday but I've been worried about her the last week, she seemed so skinny and not herself and thankfully her vet squeezed her in after the morning session.
Turns out she's okay, lost 400g but that's nothing really and Sarah the vet had no real serious concerns but gave her fluids, her B12, an anti-sickness and a tablet to boost her appetite. Then she's back on Friday to see how she's doing. Honestly, I probably am over-cautious after what happened with Freesia, but after a few days waking up far too early because I got it in my head, I'd find Tinker ill or dead I'm still glad I took her today, even if she hates me for it.
After we got her home we've been tackling the spare room. We have a built-in cupboard there that was blocked off by a desk, but I figured it would be perfect for storing the Christmas stuff, but of course, it meant moving the desk and seeing what was in the cuboard first. Turns out there was a lot in it, many many books, including my Hardy Boys collections, loads of Corey's school work from infants up to seniors, and for a swift nostalgia kick, the Poltergeist the Legacy fic I used to download and print at the library back in the days of limited hours online and dialup.
I've now got multiple black bags lined up in the hall to go to the tip tomorrow and a desk that we'll try to sell on Scpock or else freecycle.
Now though I'm tired, dusty and ready for a bath and a chill out on the couch watching tv, and who knows, Tinker may forgive me and come for her usual cuddle by then.

I hope you'd a very nice bath and then a cuddle with Tinker!

Date: 2020-01-24 03:49 pm (UTC)That cupboard hadn't been touched for a long time! So much so that the doors were a bit dodgy. They're the sliding type and it looks like one has fallen off the roller. Which is a job for another day as I can shove them along right now.
I did!

Date: 2020-01-23 11:58 pm (UTC)Wow, that's a PACKED cupboard! O____o!
Also, I actual!cackled when I read this bit:
[...]the Poltergeist the Legacy fic I used to download and print at the library back in the days of limited hours online and dialup.
Because many, many years ago, I used to work overnight at a hotel's front desk. In order to kill the hours, I would head to LJ and print a lot of fic to read when I got home. I still have one of the (sadly never completed) fics. ALL 150 PAGES OF IT. /o\
Even after moving many times since then, I have been unable to get rid of that fic. In part because I don't even have LJ, the author didn't x-post on AO3, and I think they've purged and deleted their account so...
All the kudos for you, however, for doing so many things. Hope you had a great bath and that Tinker eventually chilled out and gave into the cuddles. ;)

Date: 2020-01-24 05:31 pm (UTC)The cupboard was so full. One of those places where you don't see it so forget that you shoved stuff in there to keep it out of sight.

Oh man, that makes me grin because yes, I had so much fic! Maybe not 150 pages for one worth, but still, lots. I can still remember sitting with my printouts, reading away and then carefully storing the pages. I even bought those clip things and a hole punch to keep them together.
It's weird to think younger fans won't understand how you had to do that.

Sitting looking at that printed fic I could almost hear that dial-up whine in my head.
