Snowflake Challenge 15
Jan. 29th, 2020 05:35 pmIn your own space, create your own challenge. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Okay, my challenge is, if you've been putting something off go do it. A fic that's in your head, write those first words. Something you want to create, do the first stitch, cut the first bit of material, whatever that may be, record the first word. Tidy that area you've been meaning to for ages, write that email, make that phone call. Take that walk. Watch that TV show you've always wanted to but keep putting off because other things get in the way. Take that long bath and totally relax. Be it practical or totally indulgent, just do it.
You don't have to finish, the challenge is to just make those first steps but hopefully, you will end up with a fic or a piece of art or a tidy area. Though, if your just do it self challenge is a bath you should probably finish, I'd hate to be responsible for excessive prunage.
I see MCR's announcement was a North America tour, which is great. I hope some of my friends can go and tell all the details. I love the video that led to the announcement, so many nods to the past, and I suspect the more I watch the more I'll catch. Also, it made me want more Mikey/Pete in the 16 Candles verse, I'm just saying.
Today our walk was at the wetlands again. I can't remember if I've said but in one of the areas are two ducks that are being socialised. There's a sign up saying not to feed them by hand as they're a bit bitey and have feisty personalities but aren't actually mean. I remain dubious of that claim as every time we go near them they hiss and jump up snapping their beaks. And today one of them bit James' finger, which served him right to be honest.
Today we also posted something we sold on schpock and took clothes and some shoes to the charity place, so that's more stuff out of the house. Plus, started to arrange the joint birthday meal for me and Corey. Where his girlfriend will be getting introduced to the family, I mean, they've been dating three years so it's probably time.
We're at a funeral tomorrow. It's a relative on James' side, an aunt of his mam and not someone I knew well. But when I met her at extended family gatherings she was always lovely, so we're going to pay our respects. She's getting buried but I've never actually been to a burial before, and to be honest, I'm glad we'll be missing that part tomorrow and going from the church to the wake. Which is being held where we had our wedding reception, so it'll be nice to see it again. Just a shame it's in those circumstances.

Date: 2020-01-29 07:07 pm (UTC)Yeah, so many nods. I expect we’ll get more vampire fics soon, but that’s a good idea
Yay for wetlands though Aww James!
*hugs* I’m sorry

Date: 2020-01-29 09:49 pm (UTC)NGL, I actual!cried (happy tears) when the real countdown began. It was just a lovely retrospective and, well, the idea of the tour had been v. mildly spoiled to me and others by the venue in Dallas (which had posted something on its site about having enough parking for the MCR show on Sept 30th.).
I'm expecting more date announcements for Europe (additional UK dates, Germany, France, etc) and (hopefully for the folks in SA), Latin American dates as well. EVERYONE GETS AN MCR SHOW!!!
Ooof at James getting his finger bitten by the not-so-tamed duck. Mostly wild animals will react the way they will react.
Also, yeah, 3 years sound like enough time to meet Corey's gf. And the joint birthday meal sounds like the perfect occasion. ;)
Much love to you and James. Relatives passing on can be heavy, so I deffo concur with you that going to the wake is way better than attending the burial. That can be v. upsetting to see. <3

Date: 2020-01-30 07:52 am (UTC)MCR shows for all! It looks like they're ready for it, and that's really exciting.
He got too close to the duck -- he had a false sense of protection as the ducks can't hurt his false leg and the other is wrapped in a splint. So yeah, totally his fault.
We've met Corey's girlfriend a few times but she's getting thrown in at the deep end with the rest of them. It sort of spiralled from my MiL saying she wanted to meet her, to Kayleigh coming and if she was coming my brother and his family should be invited too and then Pauline as she's part of the family. At which point I just though, save some money and make it a joint celebration.
Thank you. It's bad enough at the crematorium, I imagine having to watch the coffin go into the ground would be even worse.

Date: 2020-01-30 01:30 pm (UTC)Three years?? Ha! Yeah, I'd say it's time. (I'm rooting for her. Meeting the family can be scary!)
Burials can be kind of intense. I'm glad no one's pressuring you to sit through it.

Date: 2020-01-30 05:48 pm (UTC)I really need to take my own challenge as I also love working on fic, but forget that when I'm not doing so.
I'm rooting for her, too. She knows me and James and has met Kayleigh, but the whole extended family is a much different thing. But at three years it is time.
No, thankfully no pressure at all to go to the graveside. In fact, most of the teenage grandkids didn't go either as well as a group of other people. Despite never attending one, I can well belive burials would be intense. So, I'm very glad I didn't go.

Date: 2020-02-01 01:18 pm (UTC)(Seriously. So, so many WIPs. I'm a world class fic abandoner over here.)

Date: 2020-01-30 08:30 pm (UTC)Poor James! Even if it served him right for not heeding the sign it still must have hurt.
Go you for getting rid of stuff cluttering up your house! And good luck with the birthday meal planning!

Date: 2020-02-01 03:56 pm (UTC)Yeah, he did have quite a nip from the duck. Their beaks are powerful.
Thank you. Planning is going nicely so far.

Date: 2020-01-31 09:28 am (UTC)I am SO PSYCHED for MCR! Tickets go on sale tomorrow, I hope I can wrestle some out of T*cketmaster. The video is a delight!
I'm sorry James got bitten by the duck. But the walk sounds nice nonetheless. And I hope you have a nice celebration!
I'm sorry for your family's loss. May all who are mourning be comforted.
