Calmed down now so can post more rationally.

We've taken all the outside lights down, I'm not giving anyone the satisfaction of taking anything else from us. That may sound like an overreaction but the lights are still hanging from the roof and all the windows are lit up, from the inside obviously so the house still looks nice. Also, I'm never going to give anyone the chance to make my son look like he did tonight. Or make him stand in the freezing cold telling me he could see bike tracks and was going to follow him. Or ask if he could stand in my bedroom and watch for someone carrying our tree in the carpark opposite. Or make him jump at every noise. So, for his piece of mind they had to come down.

I haven't changed how I think about Christmas, I still love it and no one will take that from me, or the memory of how much fun we had choosing and decorating our tree. Memories like that can't be replaced, trees can.

Also, when it comes down to it it's just a tree. I still have presents under the inside one and no ones ever got into my home. There's people on my flist who would probably love to only have a stolen tree to worry about. Yes, I lost a tiny bit of faith in people today but it was only a tiny bit, they're getting no more.

This also showed me how bloody fantastic you people are. Reading all your comments helped so much, especially as James had went running to look for the thieves and left his mobile. I've no shame in admitting that some of them made me cry again, because damn, you all rock. The police have been informed, not that it'll do any good, but if an abandoned tree is found they'll know who's it is.

One funny thing. James was going house to house asking if anyone had seen anything, like I said I was fretting at home and the radio was on the local station. Then the DJ mentioned James' name and how some scum had stolen the tree. James had decided to tell as many people as possible so used the radio to try and shame someone. And they're going to run the story on their news tomorrow.

But yeah, I'm fine, everyone's fine, because no ones going to spoil the season for me. But I'll tell you something. I'm going to get some nailed boards and put them along our fence soon, anyone try to get on my property and they can rip themselves to bits in the process.

You go, girl and show 'em! The assholes just stole a tree, and everything left is still firmly in place, and Christmas is still Christmas *g*

I felt so bad about Corey though- poor little guy! But courageous and determined little guy too! You have one great kid, here, sis- not that I had any doubt *g*

And speaking of your men, James had a bloody brilliant idea with the radio thing! You go, too, Jim! Man, I just love the guy, ya know that? lol

Amen, Castalie!

Your men rock, Terri, and maybe Corey's a lil shaken, but he wasn't cowering, he followed his dad's example and wanted to *do* something about it. Go, Corey!

Okay, if my homicidal ninja personality wasn't scary enough, here's thought from the maliciously evil world-dominating one...

...use rusty nails. REALLY rusty.

The rest of me is sad that you had to take your other lights down, that the horrible actions of others have made you change in response to them, which I just feel is _SO_ wrong on *such* a primal level, but that's me. The other side of me wants you to puncture some canned goods and rig your intruder spikes (high up on the fence out of kids' reach, of course) with boccilism and put something really tempting in the yard, just for spiteful vengeance.

Hey, I'm not _REALLY_ like that, but I can dream, y'know?

I've got two of the best guys ever!

Your homicidal ninja was scary but this world dominating one is even more so!

It's funny because James said almost the same thing. That he wanted to rig the fence then put something good in the garden.

It is a fantastic idea, but like you say, that's all it is, a dream.

Yeah, Christmas is still Christmas!

Corey so wanted to go and track the thieves down. He was pointing out tracks and everything, I think he's braver than I am at times.

Jim has more nerve than I ever would. I would never had thought about contacting them, while he's getting a warning put out on the news!

I hate that some people have gotten like that nowadays. It really sucks that people enjoy ruining things for people.

I'm glad to hear that was all that happened.

*Hugs* and Merry Christmas.

**hugs**

I agree... really rusty nails! and barbed wire. Electric fence? I know! Line it with firecrackers, which will go off when people try to go over the fence!

I admire your attitude as well. Christmas hasn't been taken away... only a tree was taken. And Corey, acting the watchman. What a wonderful son you have. Give him a hug for me!

You know reading all these vindictive ideas is really making me feel so much better. Rusty nails and barbed wire is good, as are fire crackers. I'll aim them at the butchers and kill two birds with one firecracker *g*

Corey's fantastic, he really wanted to go and track them down and would have stood at the window all night if I'd let him.

He certainly will get a hug, and here's one for you too (((hugs))) thank you. Also thank you for the Chris squeezing Lance icon, that's just perfect!

*squeezes you tight*

I'm glad you called the police, and I'm *glad* that the radio will air it, because you know, I hope whoever stole it will feel horrid.

I've always tried to rationalise when folks have stolen from me with 'maybe they needed it worse'. Sometimes that's no comfort though.

I'm still pissed on your behalf, but I'm ever so glad you're safe.

Thank you.

I know that nothing will come of either thing, but I hope someone will hear the broadcast and just think for a moment how they've hurt a little boy so much for the sake of a few pounds it would have took to get their own tree.

I'm trying to think that maybe they needed it more than we did, but have to admit I'm finding it hard to do so.
