Today I revoked access to many journals that haven't updated for over 100 weeks. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while and finally got it done. No one that still posts/comments should have been affected, but if you're lurking and would still like access let me know. Though honestly, I very rarely post anything flocked, and when I do it's nothing exciting.

It was sad seeing all the names that have drifted away, but maybe they'll come back one day. For example, ravenbat from popslash days left me a comment not long ago which was a lovely surprise.

We're being taken over by little moths so today I bought some moth repellent, which turns out to be small lavender-scented balls. I hope they work or we're going to end with very holey clothes.

What is a kink that fandom introduced you to, and you said, "Yes, Please!"

I've been thinking about this for a while because I don't really have a solid answer.

Over the many years I've been in fandom I've been introduced to many many kinks, and as I have no hard nopes I tend to read most things, and discovered that some work for me, some really don't.

I love threesomes and moresomes so things that go along with that are great, especially multiple characters focussed on one, a character with a pain kink is good but it has to be certain kinds of pain. Fandom helped me realise I could enjoy reading cross-dressing, but again, it has to be done in a certain way. I love manhandling and people being carried, that's like catnip. But I really don't have an in-depth response for this one because while I do read and enjoy kink fic, it's not where my main love lies.

It is sad to think about. A lot of good friends have faded away, people that I emailed and knew well. I know things move on, but they are a miss.

The moths are very annoying, and Murphy is being a fail cat. I'm sure he could catch them all is he put his mind to it.

Yeah, I totally agree. I've got some bulletproof kinks that I'll read anything for, but mostly for a kink to work it needs to be really well written. I've often been surprised at finding something hot when normally it would leave me cold. I guess that's one of the great things about fandom, it continually teaches us new things.

Exactly. A good writer can make me enjoy most things, especially if I was just wishy-washy about them and not a hard nope.

There's so many people I used to know back in the LJ days and we all just drifted away, stopped posting, and I still sometimes wonder what happened to them, what they're up to now, how their lives have panned out... and it hurts in a way that I have no way of contacting them and finding out. It's bizarre how we share so much of our lives with people we don't know, and they share back... and then it just stops. I'm guilty of it myself and wonder if anyone ever thinks the same about me.

I know exactly what you mean.

I keep all my emails, each person having their own folder, and I have so many stuffed full of 100s of emails from people I met on LJ and became friends with. Not just on LJ but in email and in some cases, direct messages. And then, they just drifted away. People who had been there and in constant communication for years, by my virtual side as I went through the highs and lows of life.

It's hard to let them go completely, and I have to admit, I didn't cut some names despite them being missing for years.

I know time moves on and things change, but I still miss them when I think back to those times.

Hopefully they're not the sort of moths that eat textiles! *keeps fingers crossed* And in any case they only eat animal fibres like wool and alpacka and silk. Cotton and linen and all synthetics are apparently not very tasty to moths.

Yep, been there, done that. Also can easily do without the kink being included. That really isn't what draws me in.
