We had such a lovely walk at Finchael Priory today. The original plan was to go along the river, but the path was so muddy after the recent heavy rain that James was really unsteady on his feet, so we turned back and explored the Priory instead. On the way in it said that part of the site was closed, but apparently, it was actually open, just they'd had to close it at the weekend due to sheer volume of people going inside, including people who took in throw away BBQs. Which seemed a little disrespectful, especially as there is lots of open grass to sit and picnic on near the river. The priory itself is ruined, but still has a lot of shells meaning it's easy to picture it in its glory days, and there were arches to duck through and steps to climb and walls to step up and everything was sunny and calm and lovely.

We'd called in a nearby outside shopping complex to pick up some Subway salads for a picnic lunch, and due to today being the day non-essential shops could reopen it was busier than it's been for a while. Though, the only extra long queue was for the Nike shop.

After our walk, we needed to nip to Costco for cat litter, and there was no queue at all there. Guess going late afternoon really is the best time to go.

I know that I'm pretty much alone in my Musketeers love on here, but I was scrolling through my network and saw someone had posted a Musketeers fanvid and I enjoyed it so much.

If you check it out you may understand why I'm so gone on them right now. Also, I like Athos but I keep thinking of this graphic and laughing. He really is grumpy cat.

It's the best time of year again, by which I mean it's time to get a new h/c bingo card. Which I no doubt will fail yet again, but each time I think that this year will be the year I get a line. I may even write some delicious Musketeer h/c considering that's where my head has been stuck for a while now.

And it's the last June Something unless I decide to do the bonus question.

When it comes to writing or art, what is your source for ideas/inspiration? Do you just brainstorm? Rely on talking to others? Workshop? Or do you hang out in prompting communities?

Honestly, my answer to these questions always comes down to thinking, what if. Talking to my friends does help, and in recent years a lot of my fic has been written for exchanges and challenges, so I'll be faced with a prompt and will sit looking at it, then often email a friend, which is usually Turlough and Sperrywink, going omg, look at this! What can I do!? At which point ideas usually start to click into place, always around that thought, what if....

That sounds like a really nice excursion. I hope the river will be more accessible another time.

Cheering for your words to flow freely to make the bingo! *\o/*

"What if" is always an excellent place to start.

Finchael Priory looks like an awesome place to visit! Particularly on a sunny day like you did. (I'm so envious of all the cool ruins and stately homes you have in the UK!)

Interesting that there were no people at Costco in the late afternoon. Here it seems that early in the morning is the best time.

Good luck with your h/c bingo! Maybe THIS will finally be the year you manage to get that line. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! *waves encouraging pompoms*

What a lovely day trip! Finchel Priory looks amazing and those grounds make me want to FROLIC.

I don't even know why I'm bringing this up, but: pre-teen me was a tiny bit fixated on the early nineties Disney Musketeers movie -- the one where Tim Curry played the evil cardinal? (And then, a little later, the Leo DiCaprio jawn.) So sometimes when you talk about Musketeers fandom, Bryan Adams pops into my head. And other times, I picture a nude Gerard Depardieu passing out in a barn. I feel like I should apologize.
