Jul. 25th, 2020 05:09 pmNot mentioning any names, but when I woke up this morning someone had found the packet of catnip and spread it all around the living room. It was a big packet too, so there was a lot of catnip. Bonus was, instead of hiding upstairs as usual Pansy has been down three times to roll on the carpet, which despite being hoovered, must still smell of the nip.
We went to Mog on the Tyne last week,
It was only their second day of reopening but they seem to have things in hand. You had to wear a mask while inside but could take it off while eating or drinking. Numbers were limited and some tables had been removed as well as the books explaining about each cat and the menus. Instead, a limited menu was taped to each table and a bottle of hand sanitiser left for each group. The biggest change though, was you couldn't move around the cafe to see the cats, they had to come to you. Which of course mostly they don't unless it was treat time. Not that it mattered, it was just good to be back and support them.
Quite a few of the older cats hadn't come back, instead staying at their foster homes where they'd been during strict lockdown. The manager said they'd been happier as house cats, and I respect Mog for always putting the cats first. They did have a new kitten who was adorable, but sadly played at the tables in the window so we didn't get to see him until the very end when they lifted him up so James could have a stroke, and two new older cats, though I suspect one won't be staying as he drew blood on three different people by swiping with claws. Only little scratches, but still three too many for a cat that will always be surrounded by people. If you're interested you can see some photos at my Insta here.
I've just spent a while checking out the twitter of James Fridman, aka the photoshop troll, who takes the requests very literally, leading to funny results. I was amused by many, including such gems as this though, I most love the ones where he's earnest and won't change things such as birthmarks or body insecurities saying people are great as they are. Also, stuff like this and this.
I'm finally finishing watching the last season of Killjoys. It's been sitting there waiting to be watched for many many months, but I knew once I watched it would be over. While I don't enjoy it as much as I did in season one, I still love the universe and characters and will miss them all. I'm also watching season four Lucifer and enjoying that, though the main plotline is making me tense.

Date: 2020-07-25 05:08 pm (UTC)Aww that must’ve been nice to go even with the restrictions. Aww no about the swiping one, I think you’re right there
I need to watch Lucifer season 4, I’ve not seen Killjoys yet though

Date: 2020-07-25 05:14 pm (UTC)I don't think it would be fair to either Fang, the swiping cat, or the customers if he doesn't settle down. If it's your own cat you know not to touch them in certain ways/places if they don't like it, but not so much in a cat cafe.
I was pleased to go back even with the restrictions, they need the trade and money coming in and were thorough about safety.
Killjoys is great, also has brothers which could be a draw.

I must admit, kittens are cute, but I love older cats the best. We're all sedentary.
ENjoy your TV!

Date: 2020-07-25 07:49 pm (UTC)I love Murphy but he takes a huge amount of attention compared to Pansy and Milo. They're content to sleep and eat and come over for some attention occasionally while Murphy is like whirlwind crazy cat. He also follows me everywhere, I go upstairs, he goes upstairs, I go in the garden and he sits on the windowsill watching. It remains a shock after the sedentary elders I've had for so long.
I've just had a ridiculously hot bath -- while reading more Musketeer fic -- and am feeling all floppy and overheated, so am about to collapse on the recliner in front of the fan and have a few hours of serious TV watching. I know, it's a hard life.

Date: 2020-07-26 10:55 am (UTC)I really enjoyed going to Mog, they'd obviously tried really hard to bring in good safety measures while maintaining their friendly vibe. But yeah, I doubt Fang the scratcher will remain.

I think it's great how places are adapting in order to reopen. So many shops and businesses have folded in the hospitality area, so to see others change and continue on is fantastic.
