Jan. 4th, 2021 05:48 pmI woke at 4:30 am today and just couldn't get back to sleep, so am flagging a little right now. Many coffees have been consumed today.
After a doctors appointment first thing James is back on strong antibiotics again. He was supposed to be at work for 10 but had to phone and tell them he'd be in late. Unfortunately, he got through to a team leader he really doesn't like. I do suspect their personalities clash a little, but she can also be very unsympathetic, and today asked if he really needed to go to the appointment. This is despite having clear notices in his work file that due to his medical issues he's automatically allowed time for hospital and doctors appointments. In the end, he was less than an hour late, but it's days like today that show moving to a less stressful role was the right thing to do.
I made a rookie mistake recently in terms of cat care. Milo has had a bit of nausea lately, probably because of his steroids, so is on anti-nausea meds. This means he needs two tablets a day. He'll take them easily when inside a pill pocket, and he loves the ones from the vets, but they cost £15 for a bag of 45. So, when he was first put on the steroids I thought I'd see if I could get them online cheaper. I discovered that I couldn't, but could buy another brand for a bit cheaper on Amazon. So, last time he was close to running out I bought some of them, and he enjoyed them. Great I thought, and this time when he needed the anti-nausea too I looked again and saw I could buy 3 bags for much cheaper, same brand but different flavour. I imagine any cat owner will see where this is going. Apparently, this new flavour is poison and he won't entertain them, and I have 3 bags of the things. I'll try again tomorrow but if turns up his nose again I'll have to suck it up and buy the expensive vet version as he needs his meds.
I'm very much enjoying Snowflake already, especially so as I've had awesome people encouraging MCR gsf thoughts, Mikey, Chris, Clint, Aramis in a boyband thoughts and Clint/Mikey thoughts. You all know how you are! And thank you for that :D
Those thoughts are much better than wondering what Boris is going to say at 8.

Date: 2021-01-05 01:29 pm (UTC)You know what gets me? She actually came to our wedding reception and was perfectly nice until she was promoted to a team leader. Since then she seems to take exception to any allowances James is given and she contributed to his low mental health last year. While he's never filed an actual official grievance, the next level of bosses above her are aware, but she still keeps picking when she can.
I was in bed by nine last night and suspect was asleep by 9:01.

I am down with Clint/Mikey!
Your Christmas gifts arrived today! I said thank you in my journal, but just in case, thank you here too!! You are the best for fueling my chocolate-orange addiction. And the box is lovely and I loved the message inside. particularly the "... and Corey" part. Ahaha.

You're very welcome! I'm just glad it arrived at last, I'd wonder where it has been but I suspect the answer is, stuck in a sorting office somewhere for weeks.
Well you know, Corey may be 25 in a few weeks but he's still lumped in with us *g*

Date: 2021-01-05 07:34 am (UTC)Wow, "unsympathetic" sounds like the most discreet possible way to describe that leader. Will the new role mean less contact with her?
Why so uncooperative, Milo?
And I hope you get some chance for rest and relaxation.

Yeah, much less thankfully. They're on totally different teams now, and even different floors, but Ambulance HQ is running really short-staffed atm and she was the one picking up the phone when James called :(
I had lots of rest, I think I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow last night.

It really was. It wasn't her place at all to ask that.
I enjoy Snowflake a lot, especially as it is so low pressure. It was

Date: 2021-01-05 06:46 pm (UTC)Grrrrr, people like that shouldn't be allowed to be supervisors of any sort!! I see that he won't have much to do with her in his new job but he should totally keep a list of the shit she does in any case. It's always good to have things like this documented.
Cats!! Though when they're as old as Milo I guess they're allowed their little peculiarities :-)
MCR gsf thoughts are always welcome!
Finally, guess what arrived today?!!! Yes!!! Your gifts have finally gotten here!! Such an embarrassement of chocolate orangey richness! And the box is so pretty!! You must give James a BIG thank-you hug from me! And here's a big hug to you too *squishes you happily*

That's a good suggestion because I really don't think she's cut out to run a team. Or else, she'd be fine with a team where everyone didn't need any help or adaptions put into place. It's just typical that despite moving away from her floor, she was the one to pick up that day.
Well, Milo has now decided he'll eat the poison pill pockets. I can't keep up with him!
And again, you're more than welcome! I am sorry they were late though, especially as I posted so early.
