Jan. 10th, 2021 09:52 amJames had his first COVID vaccine on Thursday and despite a bit of an achy arm and feeling a bit grotty Friday, is fine now. So that's a relief. He gets the second one at the end of February, which is longer than originally stated, but still, first step done.
We had lying snow for two days, and it got really cold, so the snow is now all icy, which makes walking difficult. Plus, as always, the only roads that get gritted are the major ones, so getting in and off the estate is dicey. We had to go out yesterday for some grocery shopping and cat litter, and while it was treacherous underfoot, it was lovely to see kids and adults sledging on the hill near our house. Of course, the weather also brings out the idiots, like the two people in cars who were using the completely iced up Lidl carpark opposite our house to do ice doughnuts at midnight.
My MiL is supposed to be getting a hospital bed delivered today. She pretty much lives in her recliner so when it broke last week it really affected her badly. Problem is though, it's a special bariatric recliner and after an assessment, it was decided a hospital bed would be better for her. I remember thinking after her fall at Christmas she probably wouldn't leave her house again, and I fear that more now. She's not dying or anything, but between the state her legs are in and her weight, I can see her being bed-bound apart from getting up for the toilet.
I don't know what was up yesterday, but I was exhausted. If it wasn't for wanting to watch The Masked Singer, which I always try to watch on the shown date due to spoilers, I would have been heading to bed before 8. Instead, I was up there not long after 9 so have had some good sleep and feel much better. So, plans for today are to finish the last bags of Christmas parsnips and make a roast dinner, change the airstone on the fish tank as it has been making a horrible buzzing noise for days, get James' work shirts ironed and then all the online catching up. Included in that, reading more Snowflake responses because I was reminded of so many old shows I enjoyed yesterday, as well as seeing some I need to check out.
