Snowflake Challenge Day 6
Jan. 11th, 2021 04:30 pmChallenge #6
In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.
I decided to grab these recs from stuff I've read in the last year.
My first rec is for The Musketeers and is for Aini_NuFire's Dragon Rider Series.
Oh man, I can't even start to tell you how much I love this series. So far there are 37 stories that loosely follow the events of the Musketeer TV show. The stories have hit around season two now, so hopefully many stories to go. Though I do wonder if they'll follow season threewhich mostly I hate with the fire of a thousand suns. In one way I hope so as more stories. In another, that season needs to not exist.
Anyway, in the series, the Musketeers are dragon riders, and yeah, you can pretend to be surprised right here. What's so great is the dragons all have as much personality as their riders, the stately Savaron, as calm and in charge as his rider, Athos. Vrita, as solid and dependable as Porthos, Aramis' Rhaego, fiery, quicksilver fast and moody at times. d'Artagnan also eventually gets his own dragon, who we get to see grow throughout the series. Plus, Constance has a good role where she's capable and as kick-ass as her tv self.
I just really love this series a lot, though the one dealing with Aramis' first dragon about broke my heart. It's gen with a side of Constance/d'Artagnan, full of h/c, adventure, daring deeds, mystical stuff, flames, roaring dragons and is just fabulous.
For winterhawk I'm reccing flawedamythyst
Honestly, I haven't read a thing of theirs I haven't enjoyed, so I could easily say, read them all. However, if I had to pick.
Military Discout which is a long winterhawk story where Clint ends up working the streets and meets Bucky. This one really pulls me in when I read it, especially as it's not actually an AU.
And, in contrast, a Fraction version winterhawk for some lighter fare Look What the Cat Dragged In featuring not only Lucky but Alpine the cat.
I've been reading a few Leverage stories lately, all OT3, this is part of a series of Eliot/Parker/Hardison coming together and I enjoyed it a lot.
The Beautiful Scars Job. Again, it's a part of a series, and a pretty great one.
